What Kids Can Do At Weddings?

What Kids Can Do At Weddings?

I am having quite a few kids at my wedding, and I am trying to think of unique ways to involve them.

I already have the idea of placing a puzzle piece on the back of each guest card to help put a large puzzle together of both me and my fiance. I'm sure the adults that have their children there will let the kids do it.

I will also be making up little goodie bags just for the kids such as crayons and coloring books. But, I am interrested in doing something so much more.... more fun...more memoriable... more everything. Anyone have any further suggestions..??

I don't want anything messy... since I already got suggestions for face painting and play dough... anything else would be good. I'll appreciate it.

Oh, one final question... how do you suggest I involve the kids in my bridal party? I have my 4 neices, my fience 2 neices, and my nephew...aged from 3 to 10... any have any ideas that I can involve them more then just the ceremony and pictures? Thanks!!!

Here are some ideas that I have seen (fh has 75 cousins)

At one of the weddings, each one of the children had two flowers (one in yellow for firnedship and one in red for love) and as they walked down, they handed the flowers to the groom. Once the last child handed him the flowers, the first bridesmaid came down with a small vase and the groom then placed them into the vase. The priest then placed them next to the unity candle. Once the ceremony started the priest explained that the couple wanted the young childen in the family to be part of their past and present, and that each flower represented their friendship andl ove for eachother. So the vase of flowers represented the unity of the two flowers forming one beautiful item.

Some things for the children to do at parties (that will not make a mess) is to give one person at each table a stamp. Givethe children a card like a bingo card, and a bag of puzzles. For example:

A coloring page: once they are finished go with the page to table 1. Then they get a stamp.
A connect the dots page: once they are finished go to table 2, they then get a stamp.

Then once all the stamps are there they are to go to the bride and groom for their gift (A small bag of puzzles or toys for them)
I though this was the cutest.

I also saw at one wedding the couple bought the bears that you stuff and stuffing and some clothes and set up a 'Build a bear' table (from target they got everything) Two of the older cousins offered to be the helpers and the children sat there for a long time stuffing the bears, coloring in the pictures of the bears, dressing the bears, brusing the bears etc. It was cute.

How about giving the kids disposable cameras and creating a scavenger hunt. This way they will feel a part of the wedding, have something to do, and you'll probably (ok, maybe) get some great pics!

This is a great post, I hope you get some good ideas, I am going to have some kids as well.
