What kind of cookware did you register for?

I'm dying over here. I work with foodies and chefs all day, and they are on my case to get All Clad or Calphalon and the stuff is gorgoues - but so dang heavy!

What did you get? I really want high quality, as I cook often and want to learn to do it really well.

TIA!

Looking at:
Analon
Farberware
Circulon

I registered for Anolon Titanium which were the best cookware which was dishwasher safe. The cookware also can be used on the stove top and in the oven.

I registered for Calphalon Tri Ply Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set from bed bath and beyond. It was the nicest set there.

I did Emerilware. I currently have a set of his cookware...and I want more!

IMO - Faberware - is horrible!!!

Re: What kind of cookware did you register for?

I registered for and received a 13 piece stainless set from Cuisinart. It had aluminum on the inside core, and was very lightweight.

but, at my shower, one woman gave me bits and pieces from the Cuisinart Chef's Classic line.

So, I returned my 13 piece set, bought a couple more pieces from the Chef's Classic line and then bought a frying pan and small pot from the Calphalon tri-ply line.

Now, I have a hodge-podge set of cookware. But, it all works very nicely!

i registered for the analon 10-piece

calphalon was too heavy and i didn't like the all metal handle

When cooking, keep in mind that you don't always want nonstick, for instance, when making any type of sauce, you should use a farberware type pot. some people don't like them because they are stainless, but a very good cook would appreciate it.

I have both in my set, and even if you register for a set and then add 1 or 2 other pieces, everything doesn't have to match, you just want good food!

I also registered for it...my parents actually bought us the set for our e party but honestly I am really disappointed. I have such problems with food sticking so I think we are going to register for a new set for the wedding (a non-stick set)

I registered for farberware millenium set. My mom has had her set since she got married 26 years ago and has nothing to say than good things about it. I liked the look and they work really well (FI & I have been using them in our apartment for the past 2 weeks.

I think we're doing All Clad but registering for individual pieces and adding in some non-stick fry pans. We really like the look of all shiny pots, but I wouldn't mind having glass tops like on the Calphalon pots.

The gentleman at bed bath and beyond in the bridal center said never use high heat. Medium is your high, then nothing would stick. I wouldn't go for a non stick set because it cooks nicer for sauces. If anything I would get a large skillet in a non-stick.(we all know omelets are very hard to cook in stainless)

Re: What kind of cookware did you register for?

My parents bought us Calphalon for Christmas, but it was Cooking with Calphalon, which is the line that Kohl's carries. It is still good quality and durable, but not quite as heavy as the higher Calphalon lines. They have stainless steel, hard anodized, and enamel- we got the hard anodized. This is what we have:

After a lot of trial and error and getting better at cooking over the years, this is what I've learned:

Farberware is temporary (it lasted 2 years before it pitted and rusted)

You must get high quality stainless pieces but it doesn't have to be a set. Oven safe is a bonus and get stainless handles.

Must get a non-stick high quality saute pan, fry pan etc..

and, never put it in the dishwasher. The same goes for your good knives.

I have All clad, caphalon and a cheap fry pan from shoprite. I also use a cast iron skillet (really heavy). I'm always looking to add to my pots and pans collection.

FI insisted on a Cuisanart set... it is classic 18/10stainless steel... the bottom has a special base for even heat distribution.. he is in love with it... thats all i know... we also registered for some additional non stick pans to go with the set....

We registered for Calphalon hard anodized 12 piece set, plus a grill pan and a griddle. I can't wait to get it b/c I LOVE to cook, but am stuck using crappy cheap cookware right now that will go in the trash once we get our new cookware!
