What kind of different things are u doing at the wedding that is not usual wedding stuff?
Original post by princess99
I am looking to see what others are doing besides the typical stuff, I want to do something where my guests will think to themselves, 'wow' that is different and so thoughtful....... ( ihave been raking my mind for months to try to come up with ideas)

Putting a locket of a pics of my mom and dad who are deceased in the boo-k

hmm i have a bunch - lets see what i can remember.
one wedding and two receptions with about 400 people at each
velvet scroll invitations
making a dramatic romantic entrance into the reception. we're going to play this acapella beautiful intro while we're still outside. then when the doors open there will be live drums and we'll dance our way in
a friend is creating a video presentation of pictures and videos of FH and I.
doing the normal guestbook and a wishbowl.
i was thinking of a place where guests could fill out answers to questions like - when will we have our first child - how many kids will we have. and then at the end of the night we can announce what the majority voted
i'm going to have some of FH's poetry read during the evening.
throughout the evening i will have a slideshow set up in a corner that will just be playing different love quotes and short poems i'm collecting.
ok i have a bunch more but most won't apply to people because they're indian-ish

Our invitations have a bride and groom on a motorcycle
instead of toasting glasses we are having toasting goblets
we have a harley-davidson cake cutting set, my garter is a harley garter, and we have a harley cake topper.
Thats all I can think of for now

-champagne greeting (my caterer has now made that standard.)
-monogramed ring dings and other hostess/drake cakes for dessert, served on silver platters.
-unique sugar (haven't decided yet what kind) and chocolate dipped spoons for coffee and tea.
-no limos for the bridal party. Big bus instead!
-candy buffet/bar
-decorative framed black & white photos of parents, grandparents, and great-grandprants for the fireplace mantles and tables that are in the multiple rooms.
-and hopefully a cake with brooches in it!

I'm like MISHY! We're having a medieval theme wedding...
Dragon toasting goblets.
Castle card holder.
Favors are Knight and Maiden candles.
BMs dresses are gothic purple velvet gowns.
Groomsmen and FH are wearing black velvet 'doublets', which are kind of like a vest but have sleeves, hard to explain. FHs will be studded.
Renaisssance trumpets greeting guests, playing ceremony music and introducing us at reception.
Harp and flute during cocktail hour playing Renaissance and Irish/Celtic music.
Knight in armor (about 3 feet high) on placecard/sign in table.
Castle centerpieces.
Pewter castle frames to hold placecards.....
on and on......

I am actually having this thing called a 'Rose Dance' done at my wedding. The DJ will have four dozen light up roses and he will play the song of our choice for all the couples to join us in the dance, and for every couple that joins us they will receive a rose and we will get an extra year of good luck added to our marriage. The way the DJ said it was much better, i think it will be very nice and I never saw it done at a wedding before
