Just what I dreamed of...and we haven't decided on getting married in the catholic or lutheran church...but should we go catholic...I want my marriage to be recognized by the church

Re: What made you decide...
i've always pictured myself in a church, and although I was open to having it at the hall, it was less expensive to have it at the church as well.

Re: What made you decide...
My FH is Protestant, and I am Catholic. The families were already fighting over which church!
So, we decided to get married at the hall, and have my Dad - who is a reverend marry us! This way no one will complain...

Re: What made you decide...
My Nonno and his brother's brought a saint with them to America when they moved here.
And I can't imagine getting married any where else then the chuch where my family saint is and my family history.
Now having a mass or a ceremony...
my said if you are getting married in a church you are having a mass, so I really had no choice on that one

I really didn't want that much time betweeen the ceremony and the cocktail hour. Plus with so many guests coming from out of town I just thought it would be easier having it at the hall.

Re: What made you decide...
We decided to get married at the RH. We both were raised Catholic although neither one of us practice, except to celebrate the holidays. We have discussed raising our children Catholic, so we will eventually get married by a priest in a private ceremony on our own.

Re: What made you decide...
We actually considered getting married at the reception site since my FH is not religious but once we walked in the church I knew that it was what I wanted. I was worried that he wouldn't be happy about it and it was important to me that he be happy, but once he met our priest he was on board and excited about it too. It means a lot to me and my parents that he's doing it.
I can't wait!

same here! both of our mothers are devout Catholics and wouldnt have it any other way! esepcially since none of my sisters married Catholics so up until me my mom has never had a full catholic mass wedding.
my ideal wedding would've been small and on a beach! but the Church wedding was romantic and timeless, so i dont regret it at all!!!

Re: What made you decide...
When i think of marriage I automatically think of a church. we both are catholic but i didnt even think of anywhere else. But if it had to be anywhere else it would be a beach

Re: What made you decide...
it was important to me to have my marriage recognised by the catholic church. i had received all my sacraments at the church i grew up in and there was no question about this sacrament.
FH isnt catholic and isnt really big on religion, but he knew this was important to me.

Re: What made you decide...
We decided to get married in a church for all the wrong reasons. We did it to make my mom and grandma happy. But I am really looking forward to the beautiful pictures at the church.

I decided to get married at the hall....I think it will be easier for my guest to stay in one spot.... espcially the out of towners.
I don't mind.. becae the setting is beautiful at the hall
