Re: What made you decide...
Originally were not going to do a church (I am religious and go to church) FH does not see the need for it... I personally wanted the church thing and then FH really did not want to ~ So we were not ~ then after a discussion with my FIL's (on my side) and as soon as they mentioned my FH grandparents ~ FH suddenly changed his mind! plus I sent him this via e-mail
Reasons to get married in a Catholic Church:
The first thing you need to know is that Catholic marriage is a sacrament. The purpose of a sacrament is to lead us to heaven! In marriage we promise to strive for the highest and greatest good for our spouse--and that means we pour our heart and soul into doing everything we can to see that he gets there! A Catholic marriage is not about feelings (being 'in love') but is a conscience, willful decision to give oneself completely for the good of another, for the procreation of children to raise for heaven and realizing that the married vocation is your best chance for getting to heaven as well.
For Catholics, marriage is not merely a civil contract, but is a sacrament, a covenant between two baptized people that is a symbol of the unity of Christ with his Church. As a sacrament, it is a means of grace, giving strength to help you live out your commitment, and helping you on the path to holiness

Re: What made you decide...
i'm having a lot of oot guests, and i don't want them driving all over god's creation to go from hotel to church to reception.
hotel and wedding are less than five miles apart and i'm offering a shuttle van to all of my oot guests. this way they don't have to worry about getting lost or drinking/driving.
i also didn't want driving to a third place for 'after ceremony' pictures with bridal party
besides, once we saw the house where we're getting married, i couldn't imaging NOT spending EVERY second of my day there. we're getting married overlooking a lake. it's so pretty :)

Re: What made you decide...
I have always wanted to get married in my church. It is also where I had my communion and confirmation. And it meant a lot to my mom.

Well, I'm Jewish, he's Buddhist - so we decided to just have the interfaith Rabbi at the RH - we had a Buddhist ceremony the night before....

I always imagined my wedding in church, so I had no 2nd thoughts about it. I was baptised, confirmed and had 1st penance and communion at the same church also, so I want to complete my sacraments there. And the fact that the church is BEAUTIFUL was a plus

Re: What made you decide...
we were actually going to get married at the hall at first because FH is not religious and the whole church setting freaked him out, but he saw that i really wanted church so he agreed, basically i always imagined my wedding in a church it never crossed my mind to get married anywhere else until fh brought up his fears, also i'v been to weddings at halls and for me there is no comparison, i just don't like them, although i know it can be beautiful there also, its just not me
