What material are aisle runners made out of?

Hello,
For all of you who that have made your own aisle runner, what material did you use?
Is it transparent?

Do you sew the edges?

Did anyone use any other color besides white?

- Some are a cotton-type of material while others are plastic-vinyl
- No need to sew the edges
- A majority come in white, but others (kittythestray) have used thicker runners in different colors

many have also used the kind you can get at craft stores. it doesn't need to be finished and it's designed to not snag or tear.

that's the kind i used. it's easy to paint on them, too. they have a slight design in the material, but it won't affect your painting/drawing.
