What percentage of your budget is your Reception Site?
Most bridal magazines say it should be no more than 40%... just curious what the real world says...

I think it depends on how big your wedding is. It is true in my case, but my wedding is smaller than most of the ones I see on here Nikki

We are at about 60%. As for what the bridal mags say, you have to remember that they r doing a national average. The tri-state area blows that average out of the box.

The percentages should still hold true, it doesn't really have much to do with where you live. Just as our receptions cost more, so do our other vendors, so the percentages should remain abut the same. A more expensive wedding doesn't equate to a higher percentage on the reception.

Mine was about 50%-60%.. this is because I used a lot of vendors that were friends of mine or the family. So if I were to use their regular retail price, the % would have been 40%, but because I got amazing rates- my reception hall was about 50-60%... but I think i'm an exception to the rule.
