what phone service do you have?

Hello. We are moving to Long Island in a month and are starting the process of getting phone and cable. I am wondering what phone service everyone has- AT&T?
Verizon?
Optimum Voice through Cablevisison?

I though Optimum voice sounded great and the price was excellent but my husband seems to think that Optimum Voice is not so good- he said he has read some negative things about it. So I wanted to ask you all for advice. Thanks!

we have the cablevision opt online. so far it's been pretty good - i like one bill better then 3 ya know.

We have Optimum Voice. I have never had a problem with the service and you can't beat the price! only 34.95 a month for unlimited local and regional calling, free long distance, caller id, call forwarding, 3 way calling, call waiting, voicemail.......

no...internet is seperated...

if you call cablevision, see if they are offering the 'Triple Play'

this is when you get internet, phone and tv each for 30 bucks i think for a year (which is a ton in savings)

Vonage....same concept as Optimum Voice, but $24.99 a month for unlimited local AND long distance!

I have all three from Cablevision.
Optimum Voice
Internet
and cable.

I love the phone and the internet.
The cable I was happier with Direct TV. However, it is pure convenience getting all three together.
And cheaper if you are a new customer and get the three deal package.

same here, the price is awesome!!!! and I pay one bill online every month for phone, cable and online!

Thanks for the feedback. We are really trying to pick the best thing for us and we're butting heads a bit. It's really strange because Cablevision gave me a quote for all 3 services (voice, internet and cable) for $137 but if I just got internet and cable, it's $124 for 6 months and then it goes up to $139 so it's cheaper for us just to have the voice too. Strange!
My husband really wants a 'regular' phone line through a phone company that is not through a modem. He has read some reports that say that having a cable based phone line is fine as a second line but not a main line. We certainly do not need 2 lines but it almost pays since it will cost us less just to have the optimum voice.

I still don't know what to do... I ordered both services and I can cancel one since it won't be installed for another month. I guess I have some time to figure it out...

We have OV and havent had any issues at all. In fact my dad and FIL have not switched to OV too and no one has any complaints! When OV first came out I think some of the early customers has some issues but I know a TON of people who have it and no one has any complaints.

When we first moved, we got AT&T we paid like $58 a month for NOTHING! No long distance calls (we made those on our cells). That $58 paid for me to call my dad, my brother, my ILs all who live in Suffolk with me. With OV I can call anywhere and its $34.

We do too, but my sis was a Verizon employee so she pays that bill.

Optonline is great - I never had any problems with it, but had to cancel - it just got too expensive.

I've heard mixed reviews about Optimum Voice. Some good some bad.
