what planning...

are you including your FMIL in???

Some people said to have FIL's check out the hall before you book it and some say to have FMIL when you get your dress....IDK??

What does everything think...and what aspects of the wedding planning are you including FMIL and FIL's in on??

Re: what planning...

Well the only thing FMIL has been involved in is suggesting the RH and demanding her name be on the invite. Other than that none. There's a language barrier between us so we aren't close at all. I prefer doing it on my own.

I didnt include my FMIL when I went shopping for my dress but a lot of people do. I guess it would be a nice gesture...the only thing that I would say is that I remember you saying that you are in your early twenties and I'm sure that your taste in dresses will probably not be the same as your FMIL so make sure that you pick out a dress that you like, not what you FMIL likes.

By the way...Were you able to convince FH to change your date to 08'...I hope so!

Re: what planning...

Fmil and FFIl after FH and i narrowed the RH down to 2 they had a say in what they liked...

FMIL will meet with the priest/ rabbi AFTER my parents have made the final decision... my parents are meeting with ppl for business reasons for $ negotations... they do not want the in-laws to get or know any involvement with the $$...

FMIL will me when they are chosen while we discuss arrangements for the ceremony to make sure they do what she and FH family will liek to include....

she will not be with me when i look for dresses. i plan on askign her when i do my fittings to come...

my mom is ENOUGH to deal with while dress shopping...

I'm very close with my FILs, so they are included in everything that my parents are! We tell my parents and FH's parents all of our ideas for everything.

When start dress shopping in the area, I would like for her to come. She has no daughters, so I want her to be able to take part in the stuff a mom would go through with her daughter. Plus any major DIY projects she'll be involved in. She's super craftsy!

Trying not to include her, as she thinks this wedding stuff is unnecessary and we should be buying a house. I cut her opinion out after she told me how much I should spend on a dress!

well we dont have the best relationship in the whole world... i wish i could include her more but she doesnt seem 'in to it' so we took both sets of parents the same day to check out the RH before we booked.. they arent paying but we felt it was the 'right' thing to do... and when i got my dress i told her and showed her pics.. but that was my moms moment... so when i go for my first fitting i will take her and my FSIL.... when it comes to the DIY stuff i will include her i know she will like that!

FIL's went with us to look at the reception halls we were trying to narrow down to. probably going to invite them to the tasting. dunno what else.

My mother, my FH and I looked around at reception halls and when we found the one we really liked, we invited the inlaws and my father to take a look at it and see if they were okay with us booking it....with dress shopping, my mother and I look at dresses on our own, but when it's time to narrow it down to picking one dress, we'll invite FMIL to help out

MY FMIL and my mom are friends so we have been doing a lot of the dress picking, florist appointments and cake tasting together. All in all, it's been a really good experience!

Re: what planning...

First off me and my FMIL and FFIL have a great relationship.
They (as a gift) are helping us out with paying for some of the RH so we had to include them in on that choice (but they left the decision up to me and FH). We do run things by them to get their opinions (my FMIL has really wonderful and elegant taste) and to see what they think. They leave the final decisions to me and FH though.

Well since my mom passed away I definitely want FMIL to be very involved. I definitely want some kind of motherly advice and input!!!

Re: what planning...

My FMIL is in Greece so she won't really have a hand in anything. She just told me who to include in the guest list from FH's side(people we forgot)
