What readings are you using during the ceremony?

And...where are you finding your readings? Are you using poems, psalms, etc.

The church gave us a list of what we were 'allowed' to read.

Um, the old testament was Song of Sngs & the new teatament was a letter from Paul to the Corinthians..'Love is Stronger than Death.' I think that's what it was called......it was the :Love is patient, love is kind....'one.

They gave us this book at Pre Cana called Together for Life and thats where we got our readings from. You can buy the book at a religious store.

An excerpt from 'The Alchemist' our favorite book, maybe the Apache prayer, and The oh so popular, but poignant Corinthians 'Love is patient.' OH! And the portion on marriage from Kalil Gibrans 'The Prophet' ... It's beautiful.

Do an internet search for love and marriage quotes, there are some great and helpful sites out there, I never memorize web names, just do constant googles on EVERYTHING. Good Luck!

Ive been looking on internet for readings. Mostly looking at poems or excepts from books.
we are def using this one:
Excerpt from: The Bridge Across Forever
Richard Bach
A soulmate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out and we can be completely and honestly who we are; we can be loved for who we are and not for who we're pretending to be. Each unveils the best part of the other. No matter what else goes wrong around us, with that one person we're safe in our own paradise. Our soulmate is someone who shares our deepest longings, our sense of direction. When we're two balloons, and together our direction is up, chances are we've found the right person. Our soulmate is the one who makes life come to life.

and then we are thinking of using a shakespeare sonnet or an except from wuthering heights

My Mom is a minister and our officiant, she gave me some books for christian weddings, she gave us free reign to write what we wanted, but she'll go over it with us and make any ehtical corretions/tips.

I have to Together for Life books too and have been really unhappy with the Old Testament choices. Anyone find any other Old Testament suggestions that they are using?

Our officiant, April from Church of Ancient Ways has a good selection posted on her web site here: http://www.geocities.com/revapril/index.html

We're using:
Blessing For A Marriage By James Dillet Freeman
and
Blessing of the Apache (Long version)

At our ceremony, DH's niece read LOVE and my brother read The Art of A Good Marriage.

(Both are under Love Poems)

We used these from the Pre-Cana book

NT - Live in Love & Thanksgiving (Colossians)
