Re: What's a good type of thermometer for babies?

I have a First Years with a flexible tip. Ive used that one since Emma was days old. I also have a rectal but I never had the nerve to use it.

Ive also heard the ear therm. are not that accurate in smaller babies. But we have one of those too.

I always used a rectal thermometer until he starting wiggling like crazy. By them he was old enough to use the ear thermometer, which is what I always use now.

I use the pacifier thermometer... Also have the rectal, and ear. Hate the ear and am usually too scared to use rectal.. but yes, rectal is best for infants! Good Luck!

Re: What's a good type of thermometer for babies?

I heard someone say that the ear thermometer isn't accurate for babies under one year old and that the Exergen TemporalScanner Temporal Artery thermometer is better. Thats the one you just scan across the forhead. Does anyone know?

My friend had the forehead thermometer and advised me against it. I don't remember why though. I have 3 rectal and an ear thermometer. My dr. recoomends using the rectal until 6 months old.

I don't want to get the rectal thermometer. I can get the ear one and perhaps a digital or something.
