What`s on your DON`T PLAY list?
This list may grow, but I`m confident that with our extensive PLAY list, our dj will get a good idea of what direction to go with music. These are just definite DO NOT PLAY songs/artists. Anything with innappropriate suggestive lyrics. * Songs * I Will Survive Mony Mony * Artists * Cher Celine Dion Elton John Rod Stewart

Thanks Tina ...
We`ve already told our dj we`re not doing any of those line dances like the chicken dance or hands up, etc. but thanks for reminding me. I know I don`t have to put it on the list, but maybe I`ll consider it one of those 'just in case' scenarios like the photographer 'must have' photo lists we`re supposed to make.

Thanks Tina ...
You know...the funny thing is that my fiance is from Long Island and I am from South Jersey. I have NEVER heard of that song 'Hands Up' and I have been to a gazillion Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and Sweet 16's and weddings down here. It must be a popular Long Island line dance tune!

Play/Don`t Play
Gloria Estefan has great party music, so do the Bee Gees. That's pretty weird that you don't want them to play at your wedding. How come any particular reasons?

Music tastes
julybride02, Not everyone likes the same music, that doesn`t mean those artists aren`t talented. I don`t care for Cher or Elton John, but I know they are extremely popular and they`re good at what they do. I just don`t find them appealing. When I told a dj representative we met with that we didn`t want Elton John played at our reception, she said something along the lines of how she loves Elton John and what a great show he puts on in concert. It made me feel guilty, but hey, this is our day and musically, he`s not something we want to hear.

Play/Don`t Play - Julybride
Nothing against these artists, it's just that I worked at a wedding hall for several years and I heard these same songs over and over again at each wedding. I just wanted to stay away from the ones that made I've become desensitized to. If my guests request one or two songs I don't like I won't object but for the most part I figure there are so many other artists I do like that I can fill the 5 hours with. I don't think anyone's personal preference is weird. To each their own.
