So my co-worker comes in today with a face twice the size of a normal face.
He says 'I've got shingles. Look at how my face blew up.'
The entire right side of his face is massively swollen, and he has shingles all over the right side of his forehead, as well as his right eyelid.
I'm getting married in two and a half weeks.
Dude, you couldn't take a sick day?
I've been alcohol swabbing the entire office.
Listen- you're no hero. Sick days are more for the other people in the office- so THEY don't get sick too. Stay the F home. Capisce?

YIKES!!!! Stay away from him! That happened to a co-worker of mine at my last job but the doctor said its very unlikely for other adults to 'catch it' from her. She was told she could go to work but was advised to stay away from babies and children.
I would still stay away though

It's VERY unlikely that you can catch shingles from another adult. Just go about your normal handwashing, don't go crazy with the lysol and purell, etc because you'll make yourself more succeptable to germs.

i had shingles once on my back it was sooooo painful it is only contageous if youve never had chicken pox so don't worry

Ugh, that is SO rude. How could he come in? Shingles are very contageous but I think I heard you can't get them if you've already had Chicken Pox...could be wrong. Stay away from him anywway. If he came into my office my HR manager would have sent him home in 5 seconds...sick days ARE for those around you!

HR didn't send him home? I can't imagine any company knowingly taking on the risk of the entire office coming down with shingles.
Can you talk to your boss? Ask to work from home if that guy is in the office? If my wedding were 2 weeks away I'd be petrified, too!
