what should I do about / for a gift?

I have something on my mind. My husbands cousin had her baby in I think March they had the christening awhile ago, and we didnt go. I didnt send any gift, which I know I should have. We have had a financial hit lately.(another story) I would like to get something but I dont know what or when to give it to them. I was thinking of giving maybe a hundred dollar gift card to a store for the baby and a small toy as a x-mas gift since they always get my boys something. But at xmas my boys get only maybe a 5.00 toy each which is fine becasue it is the thought. I havent spoken to them since January. What should I do ? What should I give them ? If I get clothes which I was thinking i dont even know the size. its been awhile since anybody I know has had a baby. If I do get clothes when should I give it to them, which is a big question. HELP !!!!!!

I want to give them something because I dont want them to think we forgot or something i didnt I just couldnt afford anything not that I can now. what should I do?

Try not to beat yourself up . . . I have two children and in both cases I received gifts throughout the first year and I never thought 'this is late' or 'they forgot us'. I know that I mentioned this before, but how about a gift certificate to Striderite!!! I got one @ my daughter's christening and was ever so pleased. Although she was not wearing shoes yet, the gift was probably the BEST I have gotten to date.

Thats what I am thinking. A gift certifiacte/card to a store not BUY, Buy Baby or Babys R Us I mean like childrens place or something like that. but when should li giv eit to them and stuff?hould I giv eit to them at xmas? or before?

when my boys were born someone gave a bunch of clothes in all diferent sizes so thathey can grow into them. they gave me from newborn to size 4t. which I thought was great so I was thinking ofdoing something like that too.
