Ok so I guarenteed 250 when I signed my contract at westbury manor. We made a mock list and i had a little over 100 on my side including close family and bridal party w/dates. On my FH side he had around 90 of just close family. He used his brothers list (who just got married on sunday) to make his. So to make our gaurentee we need approx 50 more guests. BUT thats really 25 bc they are all friends and would be invited with guest. On our mock list we had WAY over 25 friends...more like I had 60 and that was just me...
So Fh's mom has been bugging us to make the gaurentee lower-to like 200 instead. On his side about 20 people didnt come for whatever reason...it was a sunday night, end of passover so people were on vacations, etc...
Finally, here is my question... in your experiences what should I do? Should I try to get it less with Westbury Manor? OR should I stick to my guns and my gut feeling that 250 will be fine?
Always go low, you will have to pay for the extra guest anyway. STAY LOW.

Re: What should I do about my 250 gaurentee?
When you guarentee an amount that doesn't mean you can't go over. I think they need the final count a month or so before your wedding. I would go low and then you can always tell them we have X amount instead.
I had a friend guarentee a certain amount which was high and she wound up having to ask people who she normally wouldn't have invited last minute because so many of her guests couldn't make it...

Re: What should I do about my 250 gaurentee?
I used to work at an RH and always told people to go with the minimum we allowed just in case.
I know if someone called after signing and they had a year to go I would change the minimum and send a new contract. Every place is different, I would call and ask it wont hurt.

Westbury Manor bride hear and I was in the same boat as you. FH has a big family so we guaranteed 215. We made our list and it comes to about 300 people, but we know that alot of them will respond no. So I went to see my banquet manager and tried to lower the minimum and he said he could not do it. So I just plan on inviting alot more coworkers and so does FH so we can atleast make our minimum.

RH's usually set your price based on your minimum. They MAY let you lower the minimum but may raise the price per head.

i think you should task them to lower (just in case) and say you'll add on some extras to make up the price difference! just an idea!

Based on my experience, i would say to definitely ask your RH. We invited 247 and i only ended up with 162(165 was my minimum). So , just to be on the safe side, i would see what they say.

I think usually your supposed to figure that 20% of your invited guests won't come. I'm not sure how true that figure actually is, but I'm kind of going by that. We have a minimum of 150, but since many of our guests are from out of state we are inviting 230 and figure we'll have around 160-175. Best of luck to you, I'm sure whatever you decide to do will work out for you!

I wish I could give you some of my guests e guaranteed 300 and I would like to keep the number as close to 300 as possible, don't see that happening.
I don't know how to get them to change your contract, it doesn't hurt to just ask.
