What should I do w/ registry gifts that come to my house?

Soooooo a nice big box came from BB&B yesterday......I opened the box and the one inside is wrapped.....what am I supposed to do with that? Do people bring these things to their shower and open them there? Or just open it at home after the shower??? If its at the shower, then I guess I should give it to my sis? or is that just unnecessary.

I'm DYING to open it.....BUT I'm afraid to look at the little card that came with it, b/c then I'd know who its from and that they can't make it to the shower......also I'm worried they might have included something in their note that might be a giveaway as to when my shower is. I LOVE getting gifts!

I got my first gift delivered last week and I tore it open never thinking, it may give my shower date away. I knew that the person who sent the gift wasn't coming but never thought to not open it until after my shower.

I got a few to my house too and I wanted to open them in the worst way BUT my mom insisted that the gifts are supposed to go to the shower and I am supposed to open them there. So I gave the gifts to my mom and sis and they are going to bring the gifts to my shower. If your mom or sis are not as neurotic as mine, then go ahead and open it. I know it's been KILLING me not opening those packages!!!!

My aunt and cousin from California sent me FOUR big boxes from BBB (registry gifts)... they are sitting in my bedroom, taking up a ton of room because I refuse to open them until my shower

I know they won't come for the shower (seriously, why fly across the country for that - much rather they come to the wedding!), so I've asked my mom to bring them to my *surprise* shower so I can open them there.

I did, however, send them thank you cards for sending gifts and told them I can't wait to see what they are at my shower.

I opened up everything before the shower. I am too much of a peeker to wait.

That's a tough one. Part of me says open the package and the other part says save it for the shower. If it were me, I probably would have opened the box already.

I think I would've too, but FH was standing there saying 'don't open it!!' lol!!! I don't know if I can restrain myself over the weekend....that box will be staring at me!!

Are you SURE it's for your shower? If so, I'd bring it to your shower to open (or give it to your mom / MOH to bring).

My shower's tomorrow (not a surprise) and I know that the people who couldn't make it sent gifts to my mom's house - suprisingly none came to my house!

If you don't think it's for the shower, then go ahead and open it!

shouldn't people send shower gifts to the person throwing the shower? i have never done this before - not sure how that works!

our gifts are being shipped to my mom's house and she is going to take the gifts to the shower so I won't be tempted

It would kill me.........but I would probably wait for the shower......but I would let them know that I received the package but am waiting to open it.......

Yes, this is why I would possibly question if it's a shower gift or maybe a late engagement present... or an early wedding gift?!

hmmm well, maybe its because BB&B automatically sent it to the address associated with my registry? I didn't even think of it being an engagement or wedding gift....I guess anything is possible!! I was thinking that if I did open it, I would have FH read the card so nothing is spoiled for me!!

I want to be surprised on the shower thing... so i probably would give to FH to give to his mom or something - because i would want to open it!

i dont trust myself so i had them sent to my parents house in NY (we live in philly) but this weekend i'm going to NY to visit. i'm glad u posted about not opening it cause it might give away when my shower is cause i was set to open it until i read ur post. thanks for the heads up!!
