What should I do with my gown?

I bought my gown & I have a year to go, but because I purchased it from a catolog I had to take it home. So how do I store it till I am ready to take it to be altered next Spring?

Hi Val, I too bought my gown early.(wanted to make sure it came in far in advance) Its' in my closet in the bag it came in, my wedding is oct. 27, so i won't start my fittings until Aug 27, but its been safe in my closet. Good luck, I have 120 more days to go!

I bought my gown from a store but am having the alterations done somewhere else. Right now the gown is haning in my parents house, in the plastic bag, with the zipper open and a colored sheet drapped around the whole thing. The plastic bag keeps it clean, keeping the zipper open lets it 'breath' and the sheet keeps it from fading. If you keep it in a closet it should be fine. Good Luck! Lisa

I would have it professionally stored in cold storage. I reputable dry cleaner/seamstress probably will be able to help you.

What should I do with my gown?

Val, I had my dress for quite a while too. I kept it in a plastic garment bag, zipped up in my sisters closet. I read that it is good to lay it down once in a while, so I would do that for a couple days now and then (so it does not stretch). Don't put it in a moldy place like a basement. I also took my dress home almost 2 weeks early. My brother has been booted from his room and the gown is hung and spread out over his bed so that it won't wrinkle.
