I'm using butterfly kisses by bob carlisle coz i cry every time i hear it.

I am also having 2 extra dances because of extended family...my mom and dad are divorced and my mom is now lesbian...her gf helped to raise me from the age of 3 so I'm adding a dance with my mom and my moms ex gf whom I have always called 'my aunt'

for those
moms dance will be Celine dion - because you loved me

'i'm so proud' by curtis mayfield...it's really sentimental because my father always used to play this song when he took me out for ice cream when I was little...i'm gonna be a mess!

One song that isnt really an obvious father/daughter song that Id like to dance to is 'Glory of Love' by Peter Cetera. My dad and I used to sing it together like a duet so it means a lot to me but I dont know if it would sound right.

This used to be my all time fav. song. When I was like 15 I swore this would be my wedding song. I still get teary eyed when I hear it. Good choice

We are doing the traditional Daddy's Little Girl. My grandfather sang it to my mom at her wedding and sang it to my sister's and dad at their wedding. He recently passed away so I won't be able to have him sing me but the meaning is still there.

PS for all you girls using I loved her first -- get your tissues ready. My one sister used that to dance with my dad (after my grandfather sang) and EVERYONE cried.

PSS If you are looking for a not so serious song the Paul Simon Father/Daughter song is great. It is a little bit faster but has great lyrics (my other sister used that!)

Not sure yet but Dad wants to do a real dance, not just the sway. Everything I have picked so far has been too slow for him!

i'm using 'Dream' by the Everly Bros.

My dad used to sing that song to me when I was a baby as I was going to sleep. Even though it's a love song, I think it's really sweet and sentimental. I'm keeping the song a surprise for my dad--I can't wait to see his reaction!

We are dancing to 'Isn't She Lovely' and 'I loved her First'. I have danced with him to Isn't She Lovely for my baptism, communion, conformation, sweet 16, hs grad., college grad. and finally my wedding!

I am using the song Daughter of mine by John McDermott. I totally recommend you listening to it. I never heard of it but it's so nice and appropriate. The song takes you through the wedding day, and it's a beautiful melody.

just reading this thread got me all teary eyed. i can't stand it!
i was one of those little girls who told everyone she was going to marry her daddy.

at my cousin's wedding last week, his wife danced with her dad to 'I loved her first' and i just stood with my dad and we both said that we cry whenever we hear it and i got all choked up and he sorta did too.
I think that officially crosses that song off my list. I don't want to be TOO much of a mess.
