We had a hard time deciding on what songs to use for what, because there were so many we liked that really seemed to fit, and we ended up with a good sized 'Must Play' list. There were several songs we really liked for first dance possibilities, but stuck with True Companion by Marc Cohn, the song we always said would be our song. But we decided to have a dedication to each other. That way we had our first dance, then through the night also had a dedication to him from me, and to me from him. It made it easier than trying to narrow down to one special song. I was so glad we did this. His dedication to me was 'Everytime I Close My Eyes' by Babyface, and mine to him was 'I`ll Always Love You' by Taylor Dayne.

DianaL- To Kel

We have that same long list problem :-) I am going to do a dedication to him...probably Celine Dion's Power of Love, and he said his to me will be Paul Anka's Diana. I need to find more upbeat dance tunes, otherwise poeple will be slow dancing all night! I prefer it, because I am not a good fast dancer, but I know others want to get up and party :-) My father lives near Buffalo, and he asked me if they play all the 'old fogie' music early here like they do there. He said he figured they saved all the dance tunes til after the old people left because they couldn't dance to them and tire early!! I never noticed that was done here...

DianaL-

I never noticed if they play the 'old fogie' music early here either .. but I have noticed that many DJs like to play music grouped in sets .. like a set of oldies, rather than mixing them in throughout the whole night. I know how you feel about the slow songs, we`re that way too. But, maybe if you find yourself with too many that you like and definitely want played, you can have some played when everyone`s sitting for a meal .. typically when softer music is played anyway. That way, you can make sure you`re getting all your songs, even all the slow songs. By using some of the slow songs during a meal, that will leave time for more 'party' type songs when the DJ is trying to get the dance floor hopping. :) If you want some music ideas, I could see if I still have our music list around and email it to you. Or, go to http://www.google.com and do a search for wedding music. You should find a bunch of various websites that have music lists on them, some very extensive.

I have started compiling the list of songs...I think I will ask my father if there are any songs that he wants played too. I am also considering asking some of the people I am inviting from work what types of songs they want to hear (dance tunes). Thanks for the advise! Diana
