I was just listening to MP3s on the net, and Barry Manilow's 'I am Your Child' is WONDERFUL but is listed under Groom/Mother songs on almost every site. It made me sit at the computer and cry listing to it...could it be a Bride/Father song do you think?

I am using Gentle Annie by Tommy Mackem. My name is Annie and my Dad used to sing it to me when I was a little girl.

My dad really wanted to use Because You Loved Me, but I was against it for only 1 reason. That song is featured in the movie Up Close and Personal, where the person that the song is about dies. My dad had just been diagnosed with cancer as we were planning my wedding, and I just couldn't use that song because I was afraid it would be a bad omen.
Outside of that, I think it is a BEAUTIFUL song, and will probably be a very touching moment for you.

Irish Tracy- What was your Father-Daughter song?
Did you have an Irish theme? I am. Any ideas? Did you have a band or DJ? We have The Cara band w/ Gerry Finlay. They also have a female singer who sounds just like Delores O'Riordan from the Cranberries (my fav band). I'm psyched!

We used 'My Girl' by the Temptations .. Dad loves the Temptations! (And he almost cried when I asked if that song would be okay).

Unfortunately both my parents passed away so I won't have any dance like that. I would have picked either 'Because you Loved Me' or 'I am Your Child' (they are both popular choices on this site) My girlfriend danced to a song called 'Gown of White' it's sung by Pat Roper (I think) everyone cried!! My fiance is born & raised in Ireland (as was my parents & 3 siblings) so we will have ALOT of Irish music & themes! We're probably going with DJ James McGuire. We will have someone play the cocktail hour. (haven't decided who yet)

Father/ Daughter Dances

I Think I am going to use The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra. I know that is used often, but my dad lost 70lbs for my weddings so I like the meaning of it. Plus, even though my dad and I are really close he's not the gushy emotional type, so I wanted to choose a song that was upbeat.

I am using the same song!! I start to tear everytime I hear it. I will be a mess when its time for me to dance with my dad.

My father and I will be dancing to Michelle My Bell (My name is Michelle)- The Beatles. I remember him comming home from work and singing it to me when I was little so it means a lot to me and my dad. I don't know how I am going to make it through it though....I'm tearing up already.

I've loved that song by Kippi Brannon ever since I first heard it and I swore I would dance with my Dad to that at my wedding. I agree about the end though. I tried cutting off the end and it seemed really short...maybe that's a good thing though...the dance might seem a lot longer once I'm actually up there.

metphan...I had thought about using other songs but my dad and I just kept comming back to this one. I think it is a perfect song for me and him because it just reminds me of him singing it to me as a little girl. Plus it's not a song that everone can use so it's not overplayed at weddings.
