I'm sure Huntington is a great little town...obviously (from what I've read and heard from different people) Hunting Station leaves alot to be desired.

We just bid on (and were outbid) on a house in the Village. I would LOVE to live there!
Just like someone said, it's like a little city in the Village - restaurants, an awesome bookstore, great shopping, an art gallery.
Huntington Station has problems, although there is an effort to revitalize. If the school district and police could get its at together I think it could see a great turn-around. Many of the houses in HS are really cute. And the commute to the city can't be beat. I wouldn't be surprised if in, say, 20 years you see what happened in Williamsburg or Park Slope happen in HS.

huntington is awesome!!! we live right outside the village and for something like that to happen is rare as heck. and like any town with a downtown, there are bars, and things happen. huntington village is filled wtih people who have $hitloads of money (not us, that's for sure) and will not stand for that kind of behavior. i'm sure the village will be on crackdown for that. as for huntington station, there are undesirable parts, but there are still parts that are very family oriented. however, the schools are really not what they used to be and that really needs to turn around.

whether one has $hitloads of money (as you so eloquently stated) or lives a modest life, we ALL care and take pride in our town.

skew, i totally agree, but huntington has become very stepford-esque, and while it is has so much which make it a great place, there are also a LOT of people who are rather, i don't know, obnoxious with their money. i can't explain it and i will say that what i wrote previously came off wrong. i apologize and agree with you about people in any town taking pride in it. but it is almost like there is toooo much pride and i don't know, it is the kind of place where i can see 15 cops hanging out by the movies now b/c of one incident, taking away cops from the area 2 miles south that could use them (ie: the shooting at the nightclub). the extremes vary and there are people who don't want to see it become a 'bad' community and will use their power to prevent it. again, i apologize for how i worded it.

i understand what you are saying. i mean bad things ARE going to happen in good towns. we need to learn and grow from this unfortunate incident and move forward. on the other hand, god bless the REAL 'huntingtonians' who can and will use their power to keep this town thriving.

so huntington station is not the place to be in??? I'm confused...theres a huntington, and a huntington station?? or do you mean the train station???
huntington is HUGE and divided into various areas (the bay, halesite, the village, west neck, village green etc.. and the station). w/ the exception of the station all these areas are VERY desireable. the station is referred to as the area around the train 'station' and south. however, there are some neighborhoods near touro law school and walgreens that 'some' may consider undesireable.
