My rsvp date is August 4th... We invited 406 people. We've had 120 people respond so far. I have a lot of verbal 'yes's' but to me - I want to see it in writing! LOL!!
406 And I thought 150 was too many people to deal with

So far I have had positive experiences; but it's only been a week and a half. Yes people are rude and some are just plain lazy.

I am hoping to send out the invites rather early to avoid this ridiculous drama. I already know who the people are who will add their kids names (I might jump the gun and just inform them of the complimentary babysitting service I have set up!)
When should invites go out, and how long should you give people to reply?
Nooooooooooooooooo! You cannot send them out early. People will put it off thinking 'oh, that's not due back until ---, I'll mail it out next wee', and then BAM! It's past the date and they've participated in creating Bridezilla.

I got one. My cousin had a baby. He and his wife are flying up from Florida. He e-mailed me to ask if he could bring his 3 month old daughter, and before I could e-mail him back, I found a response with 'X, Y and baby Caity will be happy to attend).

On the flip side of this...my mom forgot to put return stamps on the response envelopes...she was so afraid to tell me LOL. Anyway, I had to tell my side the situation, and FI had to tell his side. Good thing we only have 93 people coming to the wedding...wouldve been quite a task calling 300 people

I have a story to add, I invited my neighbor who is an older woman, unfortunately her husband passed away three months ago, we were close with the husband and wife, so I give the wife the invite with her name and a GUEST, knowing she's not going to come by herself, she will feel lonely. She has two daughters that are twenty something, I'm 'friendly' with one of them, so I figure hopefully she'll bring that one, I didn't want to be rude and pick one daughter over the other. The other one thinks she's hot ****, hoochied up, but we just say hi and bye in passing. So my neighbor got so happy and excited with the invite and said 'Oh the girls will be so happy, we'll all go to the wedding' etc. Me being the nice person that I am was like okay, out of respect for the husband that passed away etc. both daughters will be welcome. THEN get this the 'Miss Hot Stuff' daughter tells her mother to ask me if her Boyfriend can come, they've been together for a few years and he will take the place of the father who passed away....I'm like HELLO, You are taking the place of your father.....Oh man....People are to much. I told them I will have to get back to them because I only have a limited number of guests and depending on who responds etc. Can you Believe it????

I would invite the neighbor alone and hook her up with a nice single older man from FH's side. Forget the obnoxious daughter -- As for her and her boyfriend, tell them to go to heII!!!!

I do not know. Regardless of sending invitations early or not there is always a drama. Right now we are emailing and calling guests that we haven't heard from and for the most part we are getting 'I'm so sorry, I forgot to send the response card'. We also have gotten no response. One relative I called her housekeeper went to look for her and told me that she couldn't find her in the house--that one made me go hmmmm, someone is avoiding the bride. Unfortunately, we also had a cancellation, so it feels a little frustrating right now.
There are a lot of other things I need to be doing besides calling all of these people--my FMIL and FFIL are not being very helpful with contacting their brothers and sisters and friends. They are acting as though we are asking them to do something very rude.

Are you serious? Did you want children at the wedding?

It happens to all of us. I had about 15 non-responses. I had 4 or 5 people not write their names or the # of people coming. We had to make so many phone calls!
You have to just roll with it!

i haven't had this happen to me yet , but then again i invited everyone with a guest.
ETA: as far as kids go, they are more than welcome, but all the parents i have spoken to plan to leave them at home because they want to party!
