4 months! But like you posted, I had two people saying they had gifts for me after the wedding and still haven't gotten them - my wedding was almost a year ago!

I received a gift 7 months after my wedding. People have up to a year to give you a gift for your wedding.

Why is this bothering you so much? I do think it is strange that she came to your wedding without a gift but maybe there's more to the situation then you know about. Maybe she can't afford to give you a nice gift but was honored that you invited her to your wedding and wanted to attend so she is stalling until she can afford one. Honestly, is one more gift going to make that much of a difference to you?

Oh no she is very wealthy, her parents are ambassadors, (money is not a problem). I go shopping with her all the time. I just think its rude to say this everyday and then not bring it.

I think it's more the point that this girl keeps saying she a gift for her. It just makes you look stupid and like a liar then. You're better off not saying anything. I had it said to me too consistenly, by two people - never got a thing. They'd have been better off not saying anything.

I guess I understand what you're saying. I also didn't realize she's got $$. I agree, don't say anything and if she brings it up again at work say you know what? I'll follow you home today after work and you can give it to me then. See what she says to that. Try not to sweat it though, remember: Money doesn't buy class!

I'm still receiving gifts 7 months later (but from people who couldn't make it).

Only 2 people who attended didn't give anything (not even a card). One of those people (friend of DH family) sent gift 3 months later

Hey girls...I have to say that I am in shock that a guest would show up without a gift....I have NEVER heard of that....What do you say in your Thank You..'Glad you enjoyed our wedding,,,thank you for not so generous gift'???

Actually all the gifts we got were from people who did not attend the wedding... family in Italy, etc.

I think you are supposed to say ' Thank you for sharing in our special day' and I would add ' I hope you enjoyed yourselves'

and then add..'NOW WHERE'S MY MONEY!!!' my 'busta' is feeling a little light!!



ETA:'busta' is money bag in italian...

Funny to see this posting, since we just got a gift in the mail yesterday for our wedding in March 04. A couple of other guests never did send one. In any case, we sent everyone cards after the wedding, along the lines of 'Thanks for coming' with no mention of a gift if there was none.

I personally wouldn't go to a wedding without a gift, and I think that giving one is the 'right' thing to do, but I don't consider it to be a requirement for attendance, and I don't hold anything against those who didn't give. A lot of folks, especially if not from this area, don't do gifts the same way, would never give cash, and/or have no concept of how big ($$) the gifts are that lots of us NYers give.

it is supoosed to me ok to give a gift after the wedding but before a year.
