What the point of 'plus gratuity' in contracts, if you have to tip anyway?

I've just been trying to figure that out... it bugs me. I know there are plenty of people to tip the day OF the wedding, but a lot of those contracts already INCLUDE gratuity. It think it's all a scam!

I am with you. Why do they include a gratuity??? Plus, I really don't want to have to worry about tipping people that day.

I know... I don't even like giving the job to someone that day, because they're supposed to be enjoying the day... not doing our dirty work! I hear my venue EXPECTS a $1200 'tip'... but we pay 18% gratuity already! I don't get it...

I 100% agree with you!!! This bugs me so much! I don't know why they charge that and where that money actually goes.

I wonder about it too, 18% then tax of 8+% is alot of moolah! :P

Someone mentioned that the tips are for the wait staff (basically their pay), but bridal attendant and maitre d' gets their own tips from us. Supposedly to encourage them to work even harder. What a load of crock.

Aren't they suppose to work hard regardless? Dont they get paid by the reception hall?

Talk about nickel-and-diming!
