I haven't really given much thought to my shower b/c, well, I'm not the one throwing it and I won't be at all involved in the plans.
My MOH just called to ask if there were any things I absolutely had to have at my shower. Basically she said 'I just want to know what to put up a fight for to make sure you have.'
I laughed (she's planning this with my mom who is - in a word - particular).
At any rate, I couldn't think of anything. I said 'I guess I'd like a wishing well.' But now I don't even know if I want that. LOL.
I guess I have no strong opinions about it. I don't want to have a display shower that's for sure... but other than that... I didn't have much to offer.
Was there anything you REALLY wanted at your shower or that you had at your shower that you REALLY loved or was really special?
I know they'll do a great job without my input, but in case there are any ideas out there I haven't thought of (both what I'd want and what I wouldn't want), I'd like to hear them!

Re: what things did you want at your shower?
Hmmm...well I didn't really want anything either. However, now that my shower is over; I would say entertainment for the guests. All of my guests said that they had so much fun at the shower and they weren't bored at all. By entertainment I mean, games with prizes. My girls had a few different games but the biggest one was Bridal bingo but they had about 26 different prizes so guests kept playing until all the prizes were gone. They also played the newlywed game where I had to answer a few questions in between the gifts that my FH had already answered to see if our answers would match. It was a lot of fun!!! HTH!

A wishing well was the only thing I really wanted. Other than that, I would say, make sure they have games and stuff to keep the guests entertained.

I just want it at a nice place with good food. I do not want a traditional shower with games or bow hats. I think I just want a simple party, like a brunch.

Same here. I'm actually hoping to only have a 2 1/2 hour to 3 hour shower. I'm not a huge shower person- as a guest, I get bored easily and don't find the games much fun. I'm hoping that my guests can eat and by the time they're done, I'll be done opening gifts and everyone can leave!

See this is my problem! I'm not a big shower person either. Hate to say it, but I always get really bored at s howers. I like *some* of the shower games, but those get somewhat annoying, too.
I REALLY don't want to open presents at my shower, but I don't really see any way around that, as we'll have a lot of OOT guests who might get offended if I don't. (My mom's been to showers where the bride didn't open gifts and everyone loved it, but I fear that the OOT guests might be a little peeved... though I'd MUCH rather spend my time talking to my guests than opening my presents while people watch... I also do NOT want a display shower!)
Oh well, I'm sure whatever they plan will be awesome!

Re: what things did you want at your shower?
My sister originally wanted to do a Jack and Jill shower - I definately didn't want that! I also really want a scrapbook! (My cousin makes scrapbooks all the time and I know I am goig to have one). Last thing I don't want is I don't like when people tell you what room to buy for! I hate going to showers like that and I don't want mine like that.
The nicest thing I ever saw at a shower was the bm videotaped the husband and asked him a bunch of questions about how they met and stuff like that. You had to guess how many questions the groom and bride matched. They read the question to the bride, then she ansewred the ? and then they had the groom answer the question on the video tape. I thought it was really personal and very thoughtful!

I actually did want a jack and jill shower, but my mother would never - in a million years - go for that. My brother and SIL did this for their baby shower and it was so much fun.

Re: what things did you want at your shower?
I specifically did not want a wishing well thing (I had been to showers where people brought toilet paper and cleaning supplies and like 5 billion measuring cups) and thought it would be too much of a waste.
I kinda helped plan mine and just wanted really yummy food and good games. One game that i specifically wanted was the spice game. One of my good friends organized this. Its where you take like 10 different spices in little cups and pass them around and people need to guess which spices they are. Its super hard but the older women (grandma's and parents friends, etc...) really enjoy it. I think people had the most fun guessing with those at my shower.
My BMs actually made really good prizes. Each one made up a baseket with a different theme and filled it up with lots of goodies. There was a wine and cheese on (2 bottles of wine, some cheese, cheese board, etc...), a pasta one with various types of pasta and gormet sauces and other fun italian seasonings, a taste of Rochester (where we all went to school) which had lots of different cooking things from ROchester and then there was a Yankee candle basket. The prizes went over really well and were really cute and creative.
