What time did you put on your invite?

What time did you put on your invite?

Did you put the actual time of the start of the ceremony, or did you put earlier than that? I hope that my guests know enough that if I say 11:30 it means the ceremony is starting at 11:30. But what if people are arriving then? There's a straight shot from the door out through the back to the patio where we're going to be married--I don't want to hear people arriving and saying 'Oh, ****, they started already!' But I don't want to put a whole half hour earlier, as then I'll have people hanging around and I don't know if we have anything to give them.

And if you're having the ceremony in the same place as the reception, did the venue start serving anything when people arrive? Drinks, at least? I'll have to ask my manager. I'd like to have at least lemonade or iced tea for them when they arrive, some will be driving a long way.

we have the same situation. our ceremony starts at 1130.... our banquet manager told us to put 11:00 on the invites! she said there will be champagne or something like that when the guests arrive!

Our mass starts at 3:30 and that's the time we're putting on the invitation, but we're probably going to start closer to 3:45 to allow for the people who show up a few mins late.

Our Ceremony is at the Hall. My Ceremony starts at 7:00 and that is what I am putting on the invites. It never is going to start at 7:00 on the dot so figure it will give everyone some extra time.

The way I look at it, everyone is an adult if you tell them 7, be there at 7 & if they are not, I am getting married either way

My dad's family is ALWAYS late, but I am a stickler for being on time. So with this in mind, I am putting the real start time. If you are late, you miss stuff, deal with it!!!
I am going to tell my dad to tell his family to get there early (they all live a max of 15 minutes from the church so it should not be a problem)

I put 12:45 on mine - ceremony is at 1. We have a hospitality cart in the lobby though with coffee and whatnot.

I put 5:30, and it'll start at 5:30 (or a few minutes after).

Thats a big difference. Im not sure if you ordered them yet, but I am always on time and if I had to wait an hour at the church before it even started Id be sort of upset. Especially if my children were invited.

I put 1115 for my 1130 start
Timber point does let your guests if they get there early to go into the clubhouse bar place for golfers and order soda, drink etc...

yup ours starts at 11:30 too but we are putting 11. I'm sure we will still have late comers even though we are putting a half hour early on the invitation. Plus, it gives people time to get lost and what not. The hall recommended we do that.

That is exactly why I am not putting an earlier time. I went to my friends wedding in June and it started 45 minutes later. It irritated me so much.

I put the actually start time of the mass....I think it started at about 3:10-3:15

Re: What time did you put on your invite?

i think it's rude to have people waiting around because you put an earlier start time. 15 minutes is one thing...but 30-60 minutes is not acceptable IMHO. if people are late, they lose out. other people shouldn't have to suffer.

if you're getting married at a church/temple...put the actual time. if you're getting married at the hall and they have drinks/food available, put 15 minutes earlier TOPS. it's not fair for people to have to wait.

i always get to weddings 15-30 minutes early so if i then had to wait ANOTHER hour, i would be fuming.

my wedding was at 10am and even at that RIDICULOUSLY early time, everyone was ontime and there were no problems.
