what time for ceremony?

what time for ceremony?

Hi all I need your advice. I am calling my church tomorrow to pencil us in and not sure what time I want to tell them. We were thinking 4 pm for the ceremony. We are having a formal Saturday night wedding (April 24, 2004).
Ok When would you have the ceremony?
For those already married what time did you do your ceremony and why?

Re: what time for ceremony?

Our ceremoney is starting at 2 p.m. (full masss on a Sat.) with our pre-cocktail hour to start at 5:30 p.m. We picked 2 p.m. because I figure that by the time we leave church should be between 3:30 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. Our reception hall is about an hour from church, so we figure that we will get there between 4:30 - 4:45p.m. We want to take all our pictures at the Manor East and we want to be at the cocktail hour.

my wedding will be at 3pm and its a full mass on a saturday. it should end by 4 at the latest, then with receiving line & pics, i say we'd be out of there like 4:30. my cocktail hour is at 6:30 so pics in between time will be short but i am dong them at my hall & don't plan to attend my cocktail hour so its ok.
I want to relax with my bridalparty & eat before we go out or else I dont think i'll get to eat all night!

Your church should be able to give you the times that they perform ceremonies. It depends on whether you are having a full mass or just a ceremony. I'm also having a Sat. night reception and we chose 3pm since we are having a full mass (1hr) and we figure we will be out of there at 4:30pm (includes receiving line). Our cocktail hour starts at 6:30pm and this will give us some time in between to take pictures. Keep in mind that they have to prepare for Sat. eveing mass too so they will probably give you a time when you need to be out of there.

Ok,thank you for your responses, now here is another question for you all -
Our reception might be across the street from the church. We will most likely have a number of guests who will be driving a distance (but not far enough to stay overnight) if we leave 2 hours between the ceremony and the reception - what do our guests do while we take our photos?

I would check with your reception hall, they may be able to offer a pre-cocktail hour (Manor East is going to be serving coffee, cookies, etc.) to the guests that arrive early.

We are having a 3:00 Cereemony and 7:00 reception. This will give us enough time to take pics in -between so we don't miss our cocktail hour

Our ceremony is at 2pm and our reception starts at 6pm. However, I am thinking of changing the ceremony to 3pm....Edited to say that I want to be sure I have enough time in between so that I am not feeling rushed. I feel that with 3pm, i might be cutting it too close.

my ceremony (only, no mass) is at 1pm with reception at 430...I dont know what people will do in between, probably go to MIL's house or a local bar/restuarant. I never really thought about it. I wanted the time allocated for pictures and travleling (my church is almost 1 hour from reception )

I had a ceremony at 6:15 (no mass) and my reception a few blocks away at 7:30. The timing was perfect for us - I was so glad that we didnt make our guests wait around and Im so glad we got to take our photos early on and get it out of the way.

We are having our ceremony at 4pm, then going to the Setauket Pond for pics, then cocktail hr starts at 7:30. The reception place is about 1/2 hr away from the pond so I figure we should be ok w/ time.

I am having a similar problem, I want there to be enough light out before sunset so people can enjoy the pretty grounds and we can get awesome pictures but I don't want to make my ceremony to early b.c I need a lot of time to get ready and feel relaxed. I think I may go with 3 p.m. like a few said.

Dani,

My brother & sister in law took their pics at the Setauket pond last year & they came out beautiful.
