what time should I have the ceremony?

My cocktail hour starts at 6:30...the reception is 7:30 to 11:30. It is at the swanclub in roslyn, and the church is in lynbrook. I want to know what time I should have the ceremony at the church. I need enough time between the church and the swanclub to take pics (plus, I want to attend the cocktail hour). How much time should I have between the ceremony and the cocktail hour start time?
any suggestions?? Thanks!

I would talk to the church, often you don't have a choice.

3:00
We had out ceremony at 3 and the cocktail hour at 6. By the time we got out of the church and to the reception it was 4:30. We took our pictures, BP picutes and family pictures - we all made it to the cocktail hour at 6.

If its a Catholic church on a saturday the latest you can have your ceremony is 3 or 3:30. You have to be out in time for 5pm Mass.

If its a Friday night you usually have more flexibility.

Work backwards: Find out how long it takes to get from the church to the hall. Ask the photograher how much time he needs for the pics. How long will your ceremony be? Do the math and you have your answer. That's how we figured it out. O- then we added time because things never start on time and in case the photographer ran over or traffic.
