what to do.....

what to do.....

Hey Girls- I need some opinions about how to handle an awkward situation.

Two of my guests' checks bounced, and neither of them has sent another or contacted me to let me know what happened.

I received the return checks in the mail, and I am assuming that their banks also contacted them. I am finally writing my thank you notes, and now I am wondering what to say to these people who essentially did not give us a gift!

Should I contact them and let them know that their checks bounced? I also feel like it is so far after the fact now, but I have just felt so awkward about saying something. Or should I just let it go, and thank them for coming to the wedding, with no mention of a gift.

TIA

If you were to bring it up, I see it being a very awkward convo and whose to say they will actually send another check....I would just thank them for coming because they totally know their check bounced.

i agree ... it's just not worth the awkwardness ...

plus, if their checks bounced, maybe they're having financial difficulties and don't need the stress of 'having' to re-send it.

hopefully when they get your thank you card, they'll remember that the check bounced and that they should re-send a gift

Are these your friends or friends of your parents? I had two checks bounce and one was a friend of my dad's and he had no qualms about speaking to them about it. They sent me another check within the next month. The other was my step sister and I totally let it go and never mentioned it (other than to my step dad who said she hadn't realized we wouldn't deposit it right away because of the HM). I love my step sister dearly, but she's a little scatter-brained like that. I definitely don't need her money and didn't want to worry about it. I still sent her a TY for coming to the wedding.

It's a tough situation and I went through the same thing as well. You should contact them to let them know. They probably feel embarrassed to approach you, however they should sinceI'm sure your account was also charged. I would reach out to them and see what they say and bring it up in a diplomatic way. HTH an Good Luck!
