What to do??? HELP!

Hi ladies. I am going to a friend's bridal shower in a few weeks. I just got the invitation last week and i went on the registry to pick out a gift. all of her gifts are rediculously expensive! there is a $700 ice bucket on there! bascially, there is nothing on there for less than $200, except for a wine bottle opener (which i dont want to get). surprisingly, some of these lavish gifts have actually been purchased!

anyway, my question is what do you do when the registry is either all bought up or is too expensive? anyone have gift ideas for me?!?

Where is she registered? If its like BBB or Macys you may be able to use a coupon! I know exactly what you mean. This happened to me and I ended up buying one of my friend's fine China bc I waited to the last min!

She is registered at Bloomingdales. The weird thing is i just got the invite so its not that I am last minute, its just that everything is over $200! is it just me, or is it a little inappropriate or presumptious?

I would say get her a Gift Card and some Lingerie

Get her a gift card to wherever she is registered at. I would also get her a small gift. Whether it be lingerie like someone suggested or if she has company over often maybe get an inexpensive cocktail shaker set with some fun glasses. That way she at least has something to open.

Yeah bloomies can be a killer! That is a little short of timing. I agree with the rest of the gals here. Get a gift card and a smaller gift as well then

I would get her a Bloomingdales giftcard of an amount you can afford and then she can pay the difference of anything she wants.

That is insane! I would get her a gift card in an amount you feel comfortable spending or just get her a gift you think she would like that's not on her registry.

What about chipping in with someone else? When. I was in grd school a few of us girls chipped in for a an expensive item and just signed all of our names on the card. Chances are, a lot of people are feeling the way you are.

you could get her an american express gift card and write in the card for her to use for dinner on their honeymoon.

I like this idea.

Seriously...nothing under $200....thats insane and totally not right, IMO.

Yes chipping in is good OR

How close of a friend is she? Sometimes personal things mean a lot more... like put together a scrapbook of your friendship or something.

or you can make her a scrapbook for her wedding pictures. You can just pre-make the pages for her with cute decorative things and and then once she gets the photos, she just glues them onto the pages that you already created.

I think almost everyone would be just as happy with GC, I know I would prefer it! And,unless shes rolling with the 1%, I am sure most guest feel the same way as you do will end of going that route. (Please excuse for the bad OWS joke).

I've been doing my registry and felt funny registering at Tiffany and other high end places, I know a lot of the stuff is pricey for what it is, but it's totally affordable ($35 for a small glass bowl, $25 for wine glasses etc) and it's what I like - I'd be perfectly happy if someone gave me two wine glasses as my present rather than something that appears to be 'big' and 'worth it.' But, that's an entirely different issue in itself.

Yes gift card is perfect. The fact that she doesn't have any affordable items on her registry is ridiculous, especially now a days with all of the unemployed people out there!!
