You can do that gift with the wine or the candles that has the poems to match...this one is for the wedding night, the first dinner party, etc. Or lingerie is always good, or even something with her new last name like new business cards, return address labels, or artwork! Oh, and if you go the giftcard route, I would choose a place that she's not registered at (like Pier One or Crate and Barrel).
I would do a basket or chip in with a bunch of people. Some people really have nerve, thinking all their guests are in the position to spend that much!
I cant believe she would register for all those expensive things, I would definitely give her a gift card. I wouldnt be surprised if she gets alot of them and a few gifts from people who went in on something together

What about chipping in with someone else? When. I was in grd school a few of us girls chipped in for a an expensive item and just signed all of our names on the card. Chances are, a lot of people are feeling the way you are.
giftcard and either a small gift or make up a basket of sorts or some lingerie...

That's ridiculous. I would get her a gift card to the store where she has her registry in an amount that I was comfortable with.
