Ok, so FH and I received an RSVP yesterday for someone that we have never heard of.... They checked accepts with pleasure, put 2 on the number of guests attending line and the name on the top line, so it looks like this:
Mr & Mrs. John Smith X accepts with pleasure 2 number of guests attending
We have spoken to all of our parents and everyone but no one knows who the heck 'Mr. & Mrs. John Smith' are.... What do we do? Do we just count on 2 extra people?

This is a tough one...I am not sure what you should do. I am curious though... How did they get an invite???

Re: What to do... RSVP related
That's so bizarre! Would someone have actually had the cahones to fill out the RSVP card if let's say they got the invitation in their mailbox by accident (like intended for their neighbor, etc.)
I honestly don't know what I would do, but I sure would be freaked out.

Re: What to do... RSVP related
Is there a return address on the envelope? What about where the rsvp was mailed from? Can you do some detective work?
Ask your parents and ask your FH to ask his parents... it sounds like this is a friend of a friend sort of thing... That is quite strange. Did you # your invites? Check the # -- it could be a close friend messing with you.

check the postmark on the envelope, then check your list to see who was invited from there.

Re: What to do... RSVP related
That is so random!! I would count them as a yes...but who are they?? LOL
We numbered the back of our RSVP's to correspond with each couple/guest on our list. Its saved our butts quite a bit, especially since so many people have serial killer handwriting..

LOL wait it really says John Smith???
Thats ridiculous...I'd wait til you get the rest of your RSVPs and then you'll know who it is--process of elimination if you don't have the envelope!

Re: What to do... RSVP related
The name was actually not 'John Smith' I just used that, it was Fred something or other. The post mark says Garden City, just like the other 60 or so cards sent back from Nassau County, no one recently got married to anyone named Fred nor do any of us know a Fred... I'm stumped! I have no idea who it could be! I would just wait another week and compare our list to the rsvps that have been sent back, except that the f'ing post office lost like 10 of our responses (that we know of) so we know we're not getting them all back... I guess we'll have to wait and see who we don't know at the wedding WEIRD!!!!!!!!!!
RSVP's BY FAR THE WORST PART OF THE WEDDING PLANNING PROCESS!!!!!!!! I won't even get into the other RSVP nightmares!!!!

Re: What to do... RSVP related
Is it possible that 'Fred' usually goes by his middle name and Fred is really his first name and no one really knew that? We have a friend like that.

Re: What to do... RSVP related
WE HAD THAT HAPPEN ALSO!!!! It was the first RSVP we got and we thought someone was joking with us- didn't recognize the name at all (although they checked 'no' they weren't coming, and wrote 'we wish you the best' on the response card).
BUT I looked up the name from the response card on white pages.com...and found that the people lived right near who we actually sent an invite to--apparently it went to the wrong address by mistake, and the people aren't too 'bright' I guess. They filled it out and sent it back to us!
Maybe try that.....

I bet its one of your friends??? Check the envelope it came back in - it'll say the city and zip it came from.

Re: What to do... RSVP related
So you didn't number the backs?
I just used a pencil and numbered ours. This didn't happen to us, but I'm still glad I did it, just in case.
I can't wait to hear the end of this mystery story!!!

Re: What to do... RSVP related
yeah. . how strange. .. I would have said it was someone who changed their name too. .or if you invited someone and they put it under the guy's name they were dating. .
did you try looking up the last name in the phone book ?

Re: What to do... RSVP related
Unfortunately, the name is very common and when we looked it up on the white pages, looking in Garden City, we got about a million listings, lol! I'm just going to wait until our RSVP date passes and find out who our mystery guests are! Too funny! If anything comes up I'll let you all know ;)
