What to do with nails?

What to do with nails?

I have pretty decent nails. I have been growing them for a while and they have finall been looking nice! I wanted to have a french manicure for ourw edding but it chips SO easily on me and I am afraid to have chipped nails in our hand pictures lol. I tried putting UV top coat over it at my manicure yesterday and it looked even worse....so bad to the point that I took it off last night! FH thinks i should just go for the 'fancy nails' (permanent french over my existing nail) but I don't want to damage my nails. I had tips forever and it took so long for my nail to grow out and get stronger...do ou think I should risk the chipped friench, put a light pink on or bite the bullet and get the permanent french? Thanks!

I used to do the UV permanent French but it did damage my nails and took forever to get back into good shape. I think if you get a regular French manicure the day before and apply a clear top coat the day of the wedding then you should be fine. I am debating on doing French manicure or just a soft pink. I've been on the hunt for the perfect color for weeks now! So far I like Spaghetti Strap by Essie and Mimosas for the Mr. and Mrs. by OPI

I was going to just get a french on my natural nails, but one of mine broke. So I will be putting nails on. Eve told me about this pink and white... she did it. I don't know what its really called, but you can ask her what you she did. It wasn't cheap though.

What about getting silk wraps on your actual nails? I think that helps the polish stay on better, right?

yeah bu they have to put the gel over the silk wraps and file your nails way down which makes them soft and damaged thats my problem lol

Re: What to do with nails?

I'm doing natural nails, probably a light pink. Because french looks horrible when it chips!

I am ALMOST done growing out UV gel nails-when they were taken off, I had permanent indents on my real nails-they were so weak. Finally they're ALMOST grown out. Definitely don't do fake nails, it will be a total pain once you take them off.

The best non-chip nailpolish I've ever used, by a whopping landslide, is by Creative Nail Design-I work with those girls a lot, and I have like 20 of their polishes, my manicure is perfect for 5 days when I wear their polish. A great bridal color by them is called 'Bed of Roses'.

Goindulge.com sells their polishes. They usually ship really quick too. If they don't have Bed of Roses they will suggest something comparable. Good luck!

That's what I'm doing. I still haven't decided if I'm going for a french on top of the silk wraps or a very pale pink color.

My color of the moment is Luscious Lips by Essie. I'm just crazy about it!

Keep ur real nails. I have used 2 really good top coats and they each keep my mani for about a full week. The nail salon might sell a clear coat called DURI that's great stuff. And Sally Hansen MEGA SHINE is amazing stuff.

they have stuff at the salons that they can put over the french coat that it is almost impossible to chip. ask them ...and tell them exactly what you are doing it for...they usually know!

Im going to put wraps on mine about a month before the weddingg, to get used and so that I dont have to worry about them chipping and all. My nails are soo bad with keeping any nailpolish on them.
If you dont want to get tips or anything then I say go with the light pink.

I get manicures ALL the time and my nails are finally in great shape BUT I am getting a permanent french set put on for the wedding. I just think they look great in pics and will stay nice for my honeymoon!! Anything for the wedding..lol

I am not sure what you should do I have stubs. I did have to tell you how funny it is to me that your FH calls them 'fancy nails'

I have the same dilemma. I can grow my nails out, but because they are so thin, nail polish chips so easily with them. If I wear nail polish, it is either clear or pale pink so if they do chip...it isn't noticeable.
People have been recommending that I get silk wraps. They don't look as chunky as acrylics. Everyone I know that has silk wraps, loves them...and they look very natural. Nobody would ever know they are fake, whereas you can see a fake acrylic nail from a mile away.

yeah they can look natural for sure but i dont want to wreck my nails..i had silk wraps for a long time and they did some serious damage. I think I am going to use a color called Vanity Fairest. I tried it out today and its pretty!

I say dont do the fake nails...they really damage your nails. Why not get them done the day before and try to avoid washing things....or just go for that light pink.....or buy some white nail polish to fix any chips that could happen

oddly enough i'm going to put on press on nails for my weddings... a dab of nail glue and those puppies will stay on all day without ruining my nails !!!!

I honestly think you should do the Permanent French. Like you, I had tips forever and FINALLY my nails are healthy again. However, for the wedding (and then through the honeymoon) I want the permanent french. I think it looks great and won't chip, and then I'd take it off after the honeymoon.

I was worried about the same thing as you, but I don't think it can do damage just having it for 3 weeks. HTH!

I too have been stressing abouth this as well. It took me forever for my nails to be somewhat decent after wraps. I go for manicures every week, and they hold up well, but of course they split easily, so I may suck it up and just get them wrapped for the wedding and the honeymoon, I do want nice hand pictures!

Re: What to do with nails?

Crashing,

My sister is a manicurist. I have the same problem...I used to have tips and it took me forever for my nails to re-grow and strengthen. My sister says the trick is to put a coat of clear top coat on EVERY OTHER DAY. And make sure you do the end of the nail. So not just the top of the nail, but you have to do the front of it too. I've been doing it lately and it helps a lot.

HTH!
