what to get a 5 year old ring bearer?

I don't want it to be something that will be stuck ona shelf, like a piggy bank or picture frame. I want it to be a toy, but not one he'll get bored of easily....

help!

I have a 5 year old. It is in their nature to get bored easily. The only thing my son loves with any real consistancy is his video games and his bike. Before you buy any video games you should DEFINITELY ask the mom. I do not allow anyone to buy video games for my kids. First because I am extremely strict about the types of games he can play and how often. When he gets a new game it really stresses him because he wants to play it all the time... and I don't allow it.

I would consider something maybe a little more 'personal' and less like a toy. A lot of kids like to be treated 'older'. And if you make a big deal about how mature he is and what an honor it is for him to be a ringbearer... it can really help his esteem. Maybe a mini groomsman kit... a nice 'dressy' watch and some cologne - both my boys LOVE to pretend they are older and when we go to supper or out for a special event, they can't wait to put on their watches and spray on some 'big boy' cologne. I would also consider an MP3 player. Both of my kids have one. I loaded them with a good mix of tunes - all clean language. They actually both listen to them fairly often.

If you are determined to do toys, I would say some good board games for that age are Operation, Perfection, Twister and Hullabaloo... those are favorites in our house.

Kids that age also go nuts for those stupid webkinz.

I say get him a remote control car. Medium size. By the way I am childless so it may not be the best suggestion.

How about a Silver Yo Yo that you can get engraved, thats what we are giving my nephew who is the Jr Groomsman/ring Bearer, we are giving it to him instead of the adult favors that night . For his gift for being in the bridal party, I made him a treasure box with his name, date and I decorated the outside with a few little craft items like the hummer they will be going in and a bride and groom cut out, then inside I put all baby white shells. I purchased the weathered looking leather brown box at Michaels. Purchased tons of little shells and put in his favorite things, like a big Mets Cookie, something from the yankees just to get him going as I am a Big yankee fan, 10
Silver Dollars-I tarnished them so they look old and I buried them in the shells, pez- nascar Jeff Gordon - his favorite driver and a Mets Laser light, and inside we also wrapped his gift we got him engraved binoculors with his intitials so when he goes to the monster truck show with his dad or the Mets game, he can see it all.
