FH and I are going to his friends wedding on St Georges Island in Maryland. They are both from MD and I have never met either one of them, the groom and FH are fraternity brothers. I have no idea how much to give. I would actually like to buy a gift off of their registry but I don't know how much to spend.
And opinions / advice?

Agreed. My fh and I usually give 300 at weddings. A little more if they are close friends :)

I think considering it's out of state you definitely don't need to spend quite as much as you would up here. But since they are close I would still try to give as much as we could.

Having lived in MD for 3 years now, I would say closer to $100-$150 is completely acceptable (i'm not familia with that specific area), especially with you not being very close to them at all. Most people down here do registry gifts though. I have had friends go to wedding down here and tell me they gave $40 or a $40 registry gift....

Yes! I moved down to MD in September with FH and people just don't give gifts like they do in NY. I actually got laughed at by more than one person when I suggested giving 200$ cash. But I dont want to be cheep either so I an a bit confused on what to do.

I think if you give a registry gift around like $100 (after 20% BBB coupon of course lol) you should be fine

HAHA...my Dad's cousin from Maryland is probably having a heart attack with Garden City Hotel room rates...lmao! I probably won't be getting a gift if thats the norm down there.
I never give less than 300...
I might give less if it was a knight of columbus style wedding though

Same here. $250 if we have to travel/stay overnight.
