What to put on registry

What to put on registry

My SIL-to-be looked at my registry and asked my FH to tell me to put something more special on my registry. I don't know what she means! And apparently they changed the price of my flatware and it's out of stock. Great.

What 'special' things do you guys have? I have the KitchenAid mixer, that's special. And really, really gorgeous Jasper Conran Wedgewood dishes. The rest is all practical stuff, I guess.

Maybe a really good vacum or a rug cleaner, wine glasses , a car

I don't know what 'special' means but maybe she means some crystal stuff-- stemware and candle holders and things like that?

I have a few ideas... some of this stuff you may already have or may not need/use...

kitchen stuff:

a really good knife set
a good food processor (kitchen aid / cuisinart)
a good blender (waring)
microwave?
a good coffee maker?
a cappucino maker?
a good coffee grinder?
some le creuset casserole pots
canister set for flour / sugar / coffee...

Dining stuff:
wine glasses
champagne glasses
serving dishes
tablecloth / napkins
salad bowl + salad serving spoons

a really good knife set--got that listed
a good blender (waring)--have one
microwave?--have one
a good coffee maker?--have one
a cappucino maker?--have one
a good coffee grinder?--have one
some le creuset casserole pots--don't need them, have a huge collection of vintage
canister set for flour / sugar / coffee--love my vintage ones

The food processor's not a bad idea, although I don't really need one. The crystal and stuff--don't need that. I don't drink, my FH rarely does, and we get a set of Waterford for going to Sandals and being in the nicer room. It's good enough for us, so I didn't register for that. Thing is, I've been living on my own for a long time, I cook and I bake a lot, so I have most of that stuff. We have new towels listed, but we have so much bedding we don't need that, either. And we have a good vacuum. I'm kinda stuck! I tried to put a lot of inexpensive things on there, but I guess I didn't put enough expensive stuff. I found my flatware (Reed and Barton's Siena) on another website where they have it in sets for much cheaper, and sent it to my FH, so maybe he'll pass that along.

Maybe by special she means a keepsake? Maybe you can register for a really nice wedding album or fancy picture frames? Maybe a blanket chest? Maybe they want to get you something more sentimental than an appliance?

yeah, you're in the same boat as me. I have a very firmly established kitchen. We also have more towels and sheets than we'll ever need.

since you like to cook, maybe I can inspire you to think outside the box. I have good knives and pots already, but when I thought about it a while, there were a few items I came up with... a good meat cleaver and boning knife, a larger food processor, some unusual cast iron pots, and I needed to replace a frying pan...

maybe you could use a rolling pin upgrade with a nice marble board to make pie crusts... or some more cooling racks for cookies? a pizza stone? or some cookbooks? I dunno, maybe there's something in your kitchen that can use a bit of enhancing...

Re: What to put on registry

we have the same problem, as our kitchen is already very established and we have enough bedding and towels for this point in our lives (no point to stock up and then have to ship them across the country in 2 yrs), so we decided to go crazy - we registered for a dining room set and a wine cooler thingy we highly, highly doubt we'll get any part of it, but at least people can't say we weren't creative. we also decided that, although all of our small appliances work just fine, why not upgrade? you'll be able to find things, just look around!!

We were told put anything and everything you would like to have-picture frames...sconces...candle holders, etc. And we did and got them all
