This is such a dumb question, but can I just go in jeans and a sweater? I'm laughing at myslef for asking this, but I just want to double check on this. Thanks!

Re: What to wear for Jury Duty?
I don't think you can wear jeans. I think you have to be in business attire.

Re: What to wear for Jury Duty?
I don't think they'll send you home to change unless you're dressed like a hooker. As long as it's not ridiculously casual or suggestive you're fine. Be comfortable. It's a jury of peers - not a jury of well-dressed business people. The back of your jury notice should have dress restrictions if any - ie: shoes and shirt required.
What you wear may influence whether or not you're picked to serve, but you can't predict what sort of person a lawyer is going to want for any particular case. DH really wanted to be picked when he was called, and a friend who was a lawyer told him to look 'blue collar' - T-shirt & jeans, heavy gold chain, take a copy of the NY Post - didn't work, he still wasn't picked.

Re: What to wear for Jury Duty?
I just got a jury summons a few weeks ago. On the back it says: No Shorts, No Tank Tops, No T-shirts, No Sweat Suits..... So i guess that means you can wear jeans and a sweater...sorry I was wrong the first time! I was thinking about actually going to court.

Re: What to wear for Jury Duty?
I'm going to jury duty tomorrow in Brooklyn. I probably won't wear jeans the first day (hoping there won't be more than one day - keep your fingers crossed for me!) When I've been to court for other days for business reasons, I did see jurors wearing jeans.

I heard business casual when I went.
Jeans means you get sent home but STILL have to come back and serve. But that was Queens.. *shrug*

I just went a few weeks ago, and I swear, if I went there in my pajamas I would have been dressed better than a lot of people. You can pretty much wear anything.

so true. I went last week and a couple of folks looked like they rolled out of bed and came directly over to the court!
