What type of food have you never tried but you know you wouldn't like it...

Original post by ambersmom

Based on smell, appearance, etc. ?

For me, Indian food. The spices knock me over.

My cousin had her engagement party at a Russian place over by Coney Island and I wanted to puke all night. I know it was crazy expensive but I couldn't stand looking at the little squid things that looked like those plastic wall crawlers on the plate

Its so funny how some us...me included thrive on many of the foods so many others hate- sushi is a once a week dining experience for me, thai i eat pretty often too- escargot- love it-etc etc...

I find it very interesting!

I'm pretty sure sweet breads are brains :( ewwww..

I will never eat cow brain, or tripe, or blood pudding..i've been gagging reading through this!! lol..

I have yet to try sushi although I want to so badly. I don't know what it is..its all a mental thing, like i just can't get past the raw part. But someday i'll try it!

**clotted cream, while a very gross name, is actually good! They serve it on scones...loved it while in london!

Blood Pudding

INGREDIENTS:
3 quarts pork blood
1-1/2 pounds raisins
1-1/4 pounds sugar
1 pound mixed nuts & chestnuts
3/4 pound rice--cooked
2 oranges with all rind
1 pound figs
1 teaspoon red pepper
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons salt
bay leaf

DIRECTIONS:
Mix all and bake in oven for one (1) hour.

COMMENTS:
This pudding was made when the hogs were slaughtered
on the farm.
Although this may sound strange to us today,
'Blood Pudding' was a common dish during the earlier
part of this century. When a hog was slaughtered,
nothing went to waste.

Ok ...I was starving and couldn't wait for my lunch to get here...I think I'm good for the rest of the day now...

Well, they're not sweet or breads, I know that. I think they are the organ meats, no?

Definately Indian Food! I don't think I can handle the smell and taste of the curry. Also ever since I have seen the Movie Along Came Polly, I definately don't wanna try it!

Basically anything containing fish. There are certain fish that I've attempted to eat and I despised them just as much as I thought I would.

CLOTTED CREAM:
2 cups pasteurized (not ultra-pasteurized) cream

Set a coffee filter basket, lined with a filter, in a strainer, over a bowl. Pour the cream almost to the top of the filter. Refrigerate for 2 hours. The whey will sink to the bottom passing through the filter leaving a ring of clotted cream. Scrape this down with a rubber spatula and repeat every couple of hours until the mass reaches the consistency of soft cream cheese.

Ditto...the smell makes em gag

I love to try new foods, too. But that I just can't do

Indian food in the UK basically equals chinese or mexican in the US in terms of take out. They've all grown up with it. I just don't like it. I've tried it, and I'll eat it, but I've said to DH I'm never going to say 'You know what I feel like tonight...Indian!'

I'm pretty adventurous with food, but I think tongue and brains would squick me too...I have a thing with textures to begin with...

Blood pudding.

Clotted Cream.

Kidney Pie.

Based on the names alone my gag-reflex would be working overtime. It's unfortunate that English Cuisine is good, but poorly named. They need to get in touch with their PR department.

And escargot and liver... I don't do snails and the texture of liver squicks me.

P.S. Oooh, and tripe! I won't eat something that's name is frequently used as a negative adjective.

By the way, Clotted Cream is sooooo good!!!!!

I will not eat/try any type of seafood I just can't stand the smell or the thought-this included shrimp, lobster, any type of fish etc. FH always tries to trick me into eating fish by telling me it's chicken.

Tofu....its just the consistency of it.

Speaking of consistency I can't stomach the thought of yogurt. They were handing out samples of the Smoothies in front of Penn Station one morning (a while ago) & I took a sip & almost lost it...

Can't do flan either (although I'm sure it is delicious).
