Re: what types of pot/pans did you register for?
I have Calphalon and I love them! Whether you like them really depends on the type of cook you are -- they are heavy, but it's because the materials they're made with conduct and maintain heat better than just stainless steel. They're not dishwasher safe and I have to use special cleanser to get left-over grime off them. So they are more labor intensive and if you don't really love to cook, they may not be right for you. But if you love to cook and need something that maintains and conducts heat well, I would go with either the anondized aluminum Calphalon or All-Clad pots. My friend is a chef and she says those are the best brands for serious cooks.

I went with Emerilware because all clad makes it which is supposed to be really good but those were way too heavy for me

We also registered for the Calphalon Nonstick. I read in Consumers Report that it was one of the best ones. I don't know about you girls, but I always check in CR before I buy something.

We have analon non stick, and I love them. It cooks so evenly, it can be put in the oven up to 400 an the lid up to 450, they are so easy to clean, all i use is some soap and hot water, no brillo or abraisive powder. They are heavy and a little pricey but I think it is definitly worth it.

I registered for All Clad Ltd- but didn't get it- that's OK- I did get a Faberware set, which is fine.. I did get the All Clad roaster which is AMAZING!
Most of the time I am cooking stuff in my cast iron pan which I find is the BEST and CHEAPEST of all! Of course- it's the heaviest too- but nothing sears like cast iron!
The way I see it is- the pans won't make you a better cook!

Re: what types of pot/pans did you register for?
I'm torn betwee the Copper ones at William-Sonoma or the All Clad. The problem with the Copper is that they have to be polished a lot, because they oxidize or something. Does anyone have any copper pots/pans, and is it really as much of a pain as people say it is?

I picked Emerilware from all clad for two reasons: 1: its all clad but cheaper 2: me and my fi are portuguese ( so is Emeril) and thought it would be cute to keep that theme thoughtout our kitchen

Some things you can't cook with copper - such as hollandaise sauce.
