What was the best lesson or project you ever had to do in school?

Like, which one made the biggest impact on you? I'm always curious about these things. Being a teacher, I always wonder if these kids will remember the things we do and how hard they all worked.

For me, it was in the fourth grade. We were learning about racism and segregation. One day, without notice, we came into class and my teacher gave some of us yellow tags to wear around our necks and the rest of the people nothing. She pulled aside the kids who had nothing and explained to them that they were to exclude us from certain activities. She had all of us with yellow tags move our desks to the back of the classroom, she put us on the end of the line and forbid us to use certain bathrooms and waterfountains. She even made us sit at a corner table in the lunchroom. Towards the end of the day, she had us take off the tags and we all gathered at the back of the classroom. She asked the people wearing the yellow tags how we felt. When we all gave her our answers, she explained that this is exaclty how our country was before integration and that had we lived during the period of segregation and were black, we would have been treated the exact same way and worse. That lesson taught me SO much more than any other lesson in school ever has, and to this day, I think about it. I think that was a great way to really make fourth graders understand and not just read about segregation and racism. I loved that teacher

I had a great teacher like that. One time, my teacher came into the class furious, banging his hands on the table. He told us our tests were collectively horrible and out loud singled out the kid for especially doing so poorly. He yelled at him. And said because of this kid, we will all have a final (we were not going to originally). Well, The kid ran out of class and the rest of us sat by stunned.
He turned to us and said loudly 'Does anyone have anything to say about David?' 'What do you all think about what I did to David? Does anyone want to join him out there.? I felt like he deserved it!' We were all juniors so these grades mattered and not one person defended this kid or said it was wrong. The teacher then called this kid back into the room and it turns out it was all a set up. We spent the class talking about defending others and following orders and speaking up when things are wrong.
I wish I had defended him. I always felt bad about 'selling this abused kid out ' for the grade.

When I look back, I think my favorite teachers were the ones who made us work the hardest.
There was also this one teacher I had in Jr year when we were all stressing. He was an elderly man who taught math, and he would stand at the front of the classroom at the beginning of class and tell us everyday how special we were and how our SATS meant nothing and not to put pressure on ourselves because that was not what life was about, etc... It was like that Morrie book before it came out. So calming.

My best teacher was a math teacher ( I hate math)
