Karissa's post on the lunch thread got me thinking about my very first job at the age of 15....it was at David's Cookies at the South St. Seaport! YUMMY! I used to looooooove those cookies!!
(and the cookie batter wasn't that bad either!! )

So, what was YOUR very first job!!??

I was a Burger King drive-through worker. I would even get the lovely job of tossing the burgers into the flame broiler.

hey...at least you always 'had it your way'

I did! I created a sandwich...fried chicken sandwich w/ cheese, bacon and thousand island dressing!

I was 15 at a bakery. Everyone was annoyed because I had to wait a whole year before I could cut the bread (legally).

Knoll Farm in Brentwood. I was a stable girl. I shoveled horse sh*t and scrubbed water buckets, fed the horses and at the end of the day we could ride. I was 13 and we got paid waaaaayyy below minimum wage, but we were young and stupid.

Now most of the barn workers are illegal immigrants. The kids think it is beneath them to clean a horse's stall.

In first grade I got paid 50 cents a week to walk the kindergarteners into the main building (they were in a trailer classroom) after school to meet the buses!

Next job was JCrew at 16...

Re: What was your very FIRST job!???

my first job was at Carvel where I nearly dislocated my shoulder stirring the vat o' crunchies, had the milkshake machine explode on me and some little old ladies and was locked in the walk-in freezer as 'initiation'. I quit 10 minutes into my second day!

I had a newspaper route when I was thirteen. It was the worst. Nobody ever got their papers on time.

Aside from babysitting, it was at the Katherine Gibbs school, when I was 16. My sister worked there as an admissions advisor or something, and they needed office help.
