What went wrong?

Original post by hyphenbride

What went wrong at your wedding? Was it funny, disastrous, or a little bit of both?

At my wedding:
-DH's yarmulke fell off when he kissed me during the ceremony

-DH took three tries before he broke the glass

-My veil went on fire (luckily Barron's must make fire retardant veils, since it just melted a little bit in a few places. I am so relieved that it did not ignite, since that would have been horrible, especially with how much hairspray was in my hair!)

1. My flowers were awfu (FUGLY)l! Not what we talked about. The kissing balls fell apart before the ceremony!!!

2. Thanks to the LIE traffic, we were very late!!

3. Photography problem

4. My bustle wasn't done right

5. Didnt get to eat at the CH

6. I wanted to throw one GM into the lake b/c he was the biggest pain in the a$$!! Who wears sunglasses right before you enter the ceremony?!

7. The 2 shuttles NEVER showed up at the hotel to take our OOT to the RH!!!! Luckily we had someone there with a car.

8. The Rabbi never said 'you may kiss the bride'

9. The GM stood in front of people instead of to the side

10. Photo company......

Re: What went wrong?

1. I was an hour late, not to my ceremony but to take pictures. But who cares LOL

2. We booked with ****************** and then canceled because of the bad reviews, well guess what they showed up and set up everything so we had 2 photobooths for like 5 mins and FH had to tell him to leave. No harm done.

3. FH didnt finish our first dance with me, after the DJ asked everyone to join us, he stopped dancing with me and walked over to his friend and started talking to me, I felt like a douche standing there by myself so I walked over and stood next to him.

Thats about it... none of this ruined my day but its a fun story to tell people.

Also SOME of the vendors should realize that on LIW a lot of us know each other and they shouldn't talk poorly about a bride that we might know! Its unprofessional.

Thats awful...They should realize they are working and need to maintain a professional attitude.

Eh I was a little disappointed w/a few of my vendors.

Me too! So much so that I have YET to write my review!

PS ~ You made a stunning bride Mima.

Re: What went wrong?

1. my flowers were not really what I envisioned

2. our priest forgot to say 'you may now kiss the bride' AND 'i now pronounce you husband and wife' which really upset me. Not to mention he also grilled us in the middle of the ceremony about how we communicae in our relationship! We were NOT happy with him at all.

3. limo forgot to pick me, DH and my parents up after the reception. We called and they said it wasn't in the contract (it WAS and I confirmed it more than once) and they showed up an hour later. Needless to say that kinda put a damper on the end of the night!

Even though I was upset about these things, I didn't let them ruin my day, and overall I had the most amazing time! We just have to remember that nothing is perfect and with so many different things going on, something is bound to go wrong!

TY! I'm not even going to write a review b/c I was very 'eh' about most of my vendors.

Re: What went wrong?

There were three things that I am aware of....that having been said, they were small and not worth ruining our day.

1. DH loves french fries. They wer supposed to be a passed appetizer at ch and the rh forgot. They had them and forgot to make them.

2. Minister made 2 others...She must have printed the original ceremony because it had a first choice for reading instead of the revised one. ALso, she mentioned my godmother who passed away but forgot to mention our dads.

It was ok tough beause DH's cousin did an amazing job on a reading he had never seen and we had a memory candle w/ pictures of our dads set out during the entire party.

Little mistakes will happen. Do NOT let them ruin your day. Everything goes by so quickly. Enjoy it !!!

ALOT of people keep saying that the priest forgot to say it. HOnestly, i think some churches just dont do that part anymore. If you notice you'll see alot of girls saying this, and also theydidnt do it at our wedding either. Some of the GM after the ceremony said 'ok is this the new thing now bc they didnt say it at our weddings either' so i think thats what it is. I see too many people saying this to think all these priests just forgot

Re: What went wrong?

I agree that there are some vendors that were raved about that gave a little less than stellar performances...but, the day was still perfect.

Flowers showed up at my house and I hear my mom say 'Umm...what about that??' So I walk over to see that my bouquet has a couple of, let's say, bruised flowers. It was all white, so you could totally tell. I think this was my only semi-bridezilla moment, when I turned to the delivery guy and said 'Ummm...not to sound rude, but that looks like sh!t'. You would think that of all of them they would make sure that mine was perfect! I felt bad, cause it wasn't that guy's fault but I just couldn't stay silent. We ended up cutting out the bad parts and it was fine...They also left out my throw away bouquet, and, I just realized this yesterday when going through pics, neglected to decorate one of the mantels that we paid for. Obviously, I didn't notice it that day, but now I'm a little p.o'd...

I think that was really about it!

Re: What went wrong?

Overall everything was great for us. We had perfect weather and a great time! There were several little things that didn't go quite as expected though...

My dad did everything as rehearsed walking me up the aisle, but tripped over my train on the way to his seat. It was funny because he didn't fall or get hurt, and he said, 'We didn't rehearse the train!'

We changed our favors from one per couple to one per person, and wanted them at each place setting. Our coordinator didn't update his notes, so they were all on one table near the exit. A lot of people didn't take the favors, we have about 50 left over. I know it's not disastrous but we spent about $2000 and many hours assembling them, so it's my biggest disappointment that people didn't get them.

Lastly, we requested a 'spotlight' dance after the cake cutting which we rehearsed in our dancing lessons and wanted everyone watch us, but after about 30 seconds the DJ asked everyone to join us. I thought calling it a 'spotlight dance' would make the DJ understand that we wanted to do it alone, but I guess we should have been more explicit.
