What types of things were you girls looking for in a hall?
i def had to have high ceilings, the dance floor in the middle of the room, a evenly shaped room, the sweet heart table right across from the dj, IF the place had rugs they couldn't look old, if there were two events they had to have separate bathrooms, the room couldn't have any partitioned walls, cocktail hour had to be in a separate room, umm.. yeah.

it had to be 1 event at a time and i didn't want it to look like a generic catering hall...def wanted that old fashioned look.

First and foremost, that it could fit 200 people COMFORTABLY and not tight.
Also, wanted a big dance floor, gorgeous and clean bathrooms, an outdoor area for CH, convenient location, elegant looking (not tacky or gaudy), and employees that are willing to work with us.
ETA: it also had to be one event at a time....I refuse to share on my wedding day!

A beautiful foyer, marble dancefloor, if there were 2 weddings seperate bathrooms as well, lavish carvings for CH, no rolling bar, CH room different from reception room, Food had to be amazing., and lots of photo op places. Finally staff that was willing to work with us and blow us away...
Good Job JT xoxox

Nice bathrooms. And a CH room where it isnt like a sardine can. High ceilings would be nice and great food.

Re: what were/are you looking for in a hall?
FH and I were very much into the details!!
1 server per table / French service, not trays Bars INSIDE the ballroom Wine of our choosing ON each table Silver place settings - not silver plated (very small detail, haha) Overall cleanliness and well kept appearance Cocktail hour and a half New bathrooms No decorative mirrors or paintings High ceilings Gold chairs - no seat covers needed
I think these were the most important things. I was surprised how many RHs looked so run down and dingy in the light of day.

i am weird for this... i know... but i refused to get married anywhere that someone else i knew got married. i got so much c r a p for that. lol.
i also wanted to chose a hall that only had one wedding at a time. i dont like mingling with guests from another wedding.
everything else was up to the FW.

We wanted good food, a place we could afford, and great places to take pics. FH and I are not getting married in a church and it didnt occur to me to get married at another site so i wanted a places that had a lot of flowers.
now my luck, it will rain

Oh, I forgot about that too! There were a lot of places I refused to even look at because I had already been to weddings or other events there.
Westbury Manor (been to 2 weddings) Woodbury Country Club (had my prom there) Coral House (had high school events there) Jericho Terrace (a friend of mine is getting married there on 7/31) Villa Lombardi's (my best friend got married there)
The funny thing though, is after I picked NRC, I realized I had been to a wedding there about 3 years ago. But it was a wedding that most of my guests were not at.

Re: what were/are you looking for in a hall?
- one wedding at a time - no mirrored walls - excellent food - reputation for customer service - enough seating at the cocktail hour for everyone

Re: what were/are you looking for in a hall?
I agree with the bar in the actual room. I went to a wedding where the bar was separated and half the people were at the bar the entire time. I'm also looking for a place that isn't crazy busy with more then 2 weddings going on at once, an outside cocktail area, dance floor in the center of the room, round tables (don't like the long tables for some reason), and a place that doesn't feel crowded.
