We are still at odds about this but I will probably take is last name. I was thinking about just adding his last name to the end of mine that way it will be like I have 2 middle names then I can use either my maiden name or new last name cause I am still going to be known by my maiden name down at the firehouse....the kids will have his last name only.

Why can't I get a last name like Smith or Jones or Miller. People need 'Hooked on Phonics' to get my new last name right. There isnt a vowel until the 5th letter.

I too am losing my Italian last name to pick up his German last name.

Oh well. Someday if we have children, life will be easier.

I am taking his and I can't wait. It is a nice simple name that people can pronounce unlike mine.

i am taking fh and he cannot wait until i do. he sometimes calls me mrs. L at times and smiles oh so cute...

Keeping mine. He would ahve liked to me take his, but I said 'why not take mine' and he thought that was the most ridiculous thing ever, and I said 'oh but it's not ridiculous for me tot ake yours?' and he had no real answer to that. He realized it's not fair to ask someone to do something that not only would you not do, but you would call 'ridiculous.' I told him we could compromise. I'll hyphenate, if he'l hyphenate that way we'll have the same last name, which he says is the reason he wants me to take his name, but he didn't like that idea either, so. Plus he knew from Day 1 I was not the kind of person to be 'Mrs. John Smith'

I'm taking his. I know it means a lot to him, and I think I'd like to have the same last name as my kids too... just seems easier. And, I hate hyphens. Bada bing here I come!

Although I like that my last name distinguishes me - there are only a handful of us - I will be taking his. The downside is that his is really generic and his daughter has the same first name as me so there goes my 'identity'. It's really important to him that I take his name. And I think it's important to our kids that we all have the same last name.

I can't wait to switch my name...I love my name but I also love his...It will be Rebecca Dansereau...

I think about how long it took for them to call my name at graduation and it starts with 'S'...my poor kids will have to wait for 'W' now.....jeez.

I am going to give up my italian last name and take on his very embarrassing Irish/german last name!
