what would LIW brides do?

what would LIW brides do?

hey ladies,

i was wondering what your thoughts are on a sunday wedding at twilight (approx 4 pm but essentially we can make our own time) vs evening (6-12).

right now FH and I are torn for a few reasons

1) cost - the price goes up $15 pp for twilight (we are having approx 125-150 guests so $1875-$2250 more)

2) photography - we are planning on taking photos at a garden before the ceremony. in the august heat, we thought possibly taking photos at 4 pm might be better than 2 pm for the earlier start.

3) guests leaving - we are concerned with either option, but especially sunday night that guests will leave. we are Jewish and can't have a friday or saturday night in the summer and don't want a day wedding.

anyway, what would LIW do? would you go to a sunday evening wedding? which time slot do you prefer and why? TIA!!

Re: what would LIW brides do?

My wedding is on a Sunday- ceremony at 2..reception ending at 8:30
We chose the date bc it's our anniversary. Then we decided to have twilight because, for us, getting up at 4 am is ridiculous and so is ending at 1 am!
Our wedding is the last day of the presidents week break. I am a teacher and a decent amount of bridal partyguests work in schools, and I know for me at least, when you bookend a vacation by adding more days, it's a jerk move and could mean a latter of discipline in your file. With a twilight wedding, nobody needs to miss work the next day.
Our hall usually does 2 weddings a day, but since Feb is an off time, they let me choose the time I wanted and now I am the only wedding all day, so this all works perfectly for us!
I love the idea of it!

I totally understand your concerns. My wedding date was originally going to be Sat, Oct 5th but bcuz its was $30+ pp cheaper on a Sunday we switched our day. We are also having an evening wedding and as of now our time is 7pm-12:30am (going to try and make it a little earlier if we can). Im a little worried also beacause its a Sunday and ppl may or will not be able to take the day off wrk on Monday so I feel some may not come. But when I really sat and thought about it I know the ppl who really count will be there. Also, we plan to send out Save the dates about 10 months b4 the wedding so ppl will have more than enough time to plan and take off wrk. Some of the ppl we already spoke to totally agree with our Sunday wedding and say we were smart to save the extra $$. In your case your only looking at a cpl hour dif and if its cheaper to do it a lil earlier I would prob go ahead with that. But if you reaaly have your heart set on a later wedding and feel it will be more comfortable for u than id say choose the later time slot. Either way u choose do it bcuz its right for u and dont wry about who wont show up. Those who matter most wont miss it no matter what time or day. Plus for those who wont come are less ppls plates u have to pay!

I'm getting married on a Sunday too, but I chose Memorial Day weekend because I had your concerns too. It was really awesome to get Sunday rates when most people have Monday off- but you still run into the issue of people already having plans that weekend. In the end FH and I still wanted an evening wedding/reception and this was the best option for us. Good luck!

I'm getting married on a sunday also. We chose to do our ceremony at 2:30 and have our reception from 4-8 at the same location. We did this for a few reasons.
1) the venue is beautiful in the daylight and has these huge, beautiful windows in the reception hall. We thought it would be nice to have daylight for part of the reception. Since it's the beginning of Spring, we'l probably have daylight for at least the first hour.
2) we wanted to be conscientious of how far on the island in either location, people might have to go. We thought 8:00 was an appropriate time to end.
3) it gives us ample time to have an afterparty with our closest family and friends, if we so choose.
we went to a wedding once that ended at 6pm. Although it was a saturday, it felt sort of anti climactic :(.
