What would u do

My dad wants us to have a DJ for our engagement party to liven things up a bit and to ease any tensions between the families. Dad never asks me/us for anything. Recommended DJ is $450 for the entire party (4 hrs) with a light show and karaoke. Would you book said DJ? Important note: FH and I are paying for ENTIRE wedding ourselves

wow that is very nice of your dad.....uuhhmm do you want a DJ? can you do a radio with a few CD's and ask your dad to Tip your entertainment at the wedding...with some of the money he was going to use for the DJ???

Tab picker upper-Dad (Yeah I see why that's important) He said it's his 1st gift to celebrate us.

Just my opinion but i would say go for it espically if he is paying. I agree that it would give the party some life but its up to you if thats not the environment you wanted then dont do it

I would have the DJ. That is very nice of your Dad.

We paid for our engagement party ourselves and we weren't going to have the DJ b/c of $$. But we ended up doing it and it did make a difference. I felt awkward with my extended family meeting his and that really did help break the ice, The DJ got everyone up to dance and it worked out well!

If he wants it then book it. I think it is a great, albeit unnecessary (but what about what we are doing is necessary, right), addition to a party.

If you need a DJ and want one that is good and inexpensive why don't you give Frank from FM Entertainment a call? He is doing my wedding and he is terrific!

i agree with this...if dad is paying it will lighten things up a bit and give the families a reason to mingle w/o one having to necessarily approach another for convo
