but would u get a used (3-4 yr old car that u REALLLLLLLLY want thats still $$ OR
would you get a new car thats 1/2 the price of the used car..that youre just 'ok' with.? it doesnt excite me as the used car with 40k miles

Id only get a used car if it was certified pre owned..meaning mega warranty. we've gotten screwed on used cars.

i wouldn't do either one .... i'd try to find a car that's cheaper (and new) and i love.
but if i HAD to choose, i'd go with the cheaper car .... but cars mean nothing to me - they're just a way to get from A to B ....

i work 5 min from home and the car i have now i never go anywhere with it cuz its not reliable (ive had it for 10 yrs and holding on to it til it blows up)
if i had a reliable car, id be using it a lot. going on trips further past roosevelt field mall

personally, I would get the brand new one. 40ish miles is 2-3 extra years of driving that you will have it for! I was thinking of this when I got my accord, when I really wanted something else, but I figured, its a car.....it takes me where I have to go, thats it! Of course, I wouldn't get a crappy new car, something nice and cute.......

i would say new car.. they give you warranty and everything.. Did you check out the hyundai Sonata? I heard great things about that car and its very affordable but also sporty looking where it looks expensive. you should check it out!:)

if its from a dealership, check with them on a warranty. DH and I just got a used Element from a dealership with 50k miles, but we got a full warranty until it hits 100k, anything breaks, they pay for it.
If you love the car, see if they will work with you on price and warranty, I would say go for it. We could have gotten a new car for about what we paid for out element, but we needed the space, so we went with it

Depends what kind of car it is. On some cars i.e. Lexus 40k miles is nothing. They last forever. I personally would choose the car I love. You dont wanna make a payment every month and cringe at your. Check the car fax.

I'd check out the other factors first....like make sure nothing else is wrong with the used one. Check out its history, etc.
In the end though-as long as everything checks out-I'd go with the one that you love.
Then again, my car is 15 years old...so 3-4 years sounds pretty new to me!

Get what YOU like. But I deffo agree with the new car losing value the minute you leave the lot. I only get a new car if I lease. Plus a BRAND new car will get scratched up in our hood unless you get a bumper guard.

I would get the new one... I'm a fan of warranties and low car payments. Maybe keep looking... I am sure there is something out there that you would like better than the current new car.
