What would you do?

What would you do?

I already know I'm not going back to work after the baby is born. I'm due Feb 24th, so I was planning on going out a week or so earlier than that. DH wants me to stick it out until then to get the short term disability. (I don't qualify for FMLA, I'll be about 4 weeks short of the 12 month parameter, and HR has already told me that I don't get it)

My boss is a total jerk. I took this week off to relax because the past 2 months have been incredibly stressful at work and the next 6 weeks will be really bad as well. He called me at least once a day everyday for help with things. Then I found out today that he's been talking about me to my colleages and my subordinate about how I f'ed up the whole project, blah, blah, blah. Meanwhile, he's a total control freak and I'm not allowed to do anything without his approval. I even have to ask if it's ok for me to run out everyday to get lunch. There's no way that I could have gotten this far in the project without his approval, so he's just as responsible for the setback as I am. Plus it really bothers me that he's telling people that I'm incompetent and irresponsible, when I have much more experience in our industry than he does, and he never listens to my ideas. And I'm really pissed that he talked about me to the person who reports to me.

Needless to say, I come home from work upset everyday. It takes me the hour drive home and then another 2 hours to stop feeling angry and upset. I don't sleep most nights. I know that my blood pressure must be spiking during the day, but everytime I go to the doctor, he says that it's fine and not to worry.

I want to give my 2 weeks notice when I go back on Monday and totally screw him over. DH wants me to stick it out. Would you stay?

Your pregnant you should not be stressing your self out which you are doing b/c of your boss. and you said youself your coming home evernight upset..you dont need this neither does your baby..restless nights...not good

I know none of us can do without the income but if you can make ends meet and are going to be leaving anyways I would say give your notice to the jerk.

Best of luck to you but just remember you and your Baby come FIRST!

Personally I would stick it out. I would call in sick and leave early sick until you have the baby...I mean if the work doesnt get done O WELL you already said you aren't going back. This way you will be able to collect disability. TRUST me they won't dare fire a pregnant women.

I would stick it out.... BUT, I'd make a big stink 1st. I would report him to HR, because he's creating a hostile environment for you... and not to mention, your baby. I would definitely approach HR about the situation, because it's simply not fair how he's treating you. In a way, it's a certain level of harrassment, and he should be reprimanded. I'm sure that your company would NOT want a lawsuit from a mom-2-be, because it's most likely that the law would rule in favor of her.

Good luck!

Thanks. I'm going to stick it out since it's only 6 more weeks or so and I've been paying into disability my whole adult life, I should benefit from it.

I was just really upset yesterday. It's frsutrating, because he keeps telling me how he'll be screwed if I don't come back (can't wait to tell him that one LOL) and then he's bitching behind my back. I would never act so unprofessionally. I got a promotion since I announced I was pregnant and have been putting in a lot more overtime and working from home at night and weekends. I just don't know what he wants from me.

Sorry you are soo stressed!! Glad you are sticking it out, I think that is right. I know I am under a great deal of pressure at work and come home exhausted and often times upset because it has been so hectic and crazy. Is there anyway you could go on disability sooner? I am not sure how it all works but I was getting a lot of lower belly pressure and my doctor wanted me to go out in January because she thinks commuting is too much. I am waiting until February because I am so swamped at work...unless the pain and pressure is unbearable or harmful to me or baby...

Niecey: Sorry you are having a rough time too.

I have a doctors appt on Monday night, so I'm going to talk to him and see what he says.
