I was suppose to put one of my girlfriends in my bridal party and FH and I decided that wasn't such a good idea in the end. We have been freinds for a while, and things just went down hill AFTER I got engaged. The night after I got engaged a bunch of our friends went out and celebrated. . .except for her. She claims she feel asleep, but initally told us she was drying her hair etc. . and meeting us out. She has been weird throughout this whol engagement, NEVER once asked how plans were going, or about the dress. Finally she stopped calling me for a month. I was worried and called her, left several messages, e-mails, text messages and finally sent her flowers because I felt bad that I was maybe paying attention to wedding planning and not her. She finally calls me and says she was just busy and had 'alot going on'. That's understandable, but at least return my calls and let me know your OK.
So finally I had my shower two weeks ago, and she's not there. So I asked my sister if she responded and my sister said she did with a NO. I was so upset and furious, but I wanted to see what she said. I confronted her and she said that she had to babysit for her uncle. What the ***k. Her whole family lives down the block from her, and she had to babysit? I just think she was full of crap. Anywho. .she is calling to go to dinner now claiming she has a b-day gift for me. Should I even make an attempt to go? I'm annoyed and feel as if she is just miserable all the time. Any advice? Sorry so long

Re: What would you do
if you were great friends before her recent bad behavior I'd go & try to salvage the friendship. there's nothing to lose. however, i'd probably stop making such an effort without seeing some reciprocal actions on her part. friendship takes two people, not one! maybe she'll come around & realize that she hasnt' quite been herself?

I honestly would go to see what she has to say.... Maybe she is a lil envious of you right now. It seems as if she is making an attempt. She is your friend I would at least give her this chance to make it up to you

Thanks for the advice. She was a great friend up until FH and I got engaged, and then she just changed. We would have plans to go out and she would invite all of these guys without telling me, and then FH would freak out as if I knew. I would say somethin about it like why didn't you tell me and she would say It wasn't a big deal. But it was a big deal considering I told my FH it was just us going out. It's little things like that

Re: What would you do
I have personally been in a situation sort of like this and I chose to end the friendship. That's not how true friends treat each other.....no matter what.......I understand each person have things that go on in their lives, but from what you have told us, she was ignoring you completely with no explanation.
I woud not meet with her.......that is just my opinion though

I think she is jealous.... Sounds like she is trying to deter you from your relationship. You should tell her how you feel, at least you can walk away from the friendship knowing that you tried and told her your feelings

I think you should go and see what she says and how she acts from now on. If she starts acting that way again then I would end the friendship. People make mistakes. I believe in trying to give people a second chance, but not a third.

maybe im bitter cause im going through a similar sitation, but i would just let her be. maybe she will come around on her own, and come to the realization that you getting married has nothing to do with her happiness.

Re: What would you do
The inviting guys along sounds like on of two things, either way she's trying to create tension between you and FH. Either she has a thing for your man and wants him back on the market or she's just jealous that she's no longer the center of your attention. Either way she's going to be dead weight for your marriage and you'd be better off cutting her loose.
