What would you do

What would you do

My parents might be getting divorced and it if they do, it won't happen until next year. If divorce was a one day thing and I knew my parents would be civil, it wouldn't be a big deal, but it's not like that. Divorces take months, even years in my cousin's case, and I have younger brothers who will get caught up in custody battles. My dad is a very difficult person, and there's no way that the process will be quick and simple. I know that if it happens, there's no way I can have both my parents at the wedding and I wanted my dad to walk me down the aisle. I don't even know if I should get married in the midst of all this. It'll be so hard on my mom...

We're already trying to plan a destination wedding to make it a lot cheaper and still beautiful, but if my father isn't coming to the wedding, he's not gonna contribute to it anymore which will be a huge loss. I just don't know what to do. FH says that everything will be ok, but I don't think so. They haven't spoken since Christmas.

I am so sorry. I don't know what to say but take one day at a time. Something has to work out in the end. It always does. Hang in there.

Aww I am so sorry. I am sure that they will both be able to go to your wedding. Just explain to both of them how much it means to ou for them both to be there. Hopefully they can work something out.

Definitely do not call off your wedding...This is the beginning of you and your FHs life together - because your parents are getting divorced you're not going to do it? If your parents were to get divorced five years from now and you were planning on starting a family - would you not start one? Probably not.

Don't feel bad about being happy! Live it up!!! Hang in there. It will be OK.

I'm sorry to hear this. I dont know what I would do...hopefully it will all work itself out. Maybe you can just do a smaller, less expensive wedding so no matter what happens over the next year or so, you can still have a great wedding that both parents will attend. No matter what they're going through, they dont want your big day to be ruined over it.

i am so sorry! i can only imagine what you are going through...i have a father who is very difficult as well (although my parents are still married...they dont get along that well) i know how it is to deal with that. I would definately talk to each of them separately. let them know how you feel, and tell them you want to take their feelings into consideration while planning. You should not have to sacrifice having one of them there and they really need to be understanding of this. You dont want them to feel like you are choosing one over the other, that can be a touchy thing. This is a whole new thing to you and to them, i am sure with time things will get a little better. Just take things slow, this is supposed to be a happy time for you and for them.

I'm sorry you are going through this. In a perfect world they would both go and be civil realizing this day is not about them, it's all about you and FH! But it's not a perfect world and unfortunately you are caught in the middle. Good Luck
